Yeah. My dealer installed it. ;-)

Seriously, I don't know the details except that they used an additional intelligent key to make it work. Works great.

One would assume that they would have to place an extra key in the vehicle, however, they would also have to make sure the key would not allow someone to unlock the drivers side door.

I guess they could just move the reciever, for the starter, far enough to not have it affect the door receivers. Maybe they placed them together in a shielded box?

What brand? There's not a factory unit is there? Since you already have the push button start it seems like it would be really easy to have a factory one.

I've always used Astroflex in the past. My installer is checking to see what module they need.

Any chance of tapping that panick button that no one ever uses on purpose?

Yes. 2 clicks on the Lock button. Then when entering the car, you hit the Start button twice, moving it to On. It dies if you step on the brake before doing that, which I do constantly.

Did you ask at your dealer? I'd have to do that same, so you might as well do it. Sorry I don't have more info.

Maybe i dont understand what remote start is but doesnt hitting the start button twice contradict "remote start"?

It's a safety feature. The car IS running when he approaches it and he needs to then hit the button again to let the system know he did in fact start it on purpose, is aware the engine is running and is ready to be driven.

On a vehicle with remote start & a standard key you must insert the key and turn it to the on position BEFORE you put your foot on the brake or it will stop the engine, same safety feature...

More details on this set up would be nice

G37RacerX is correct.

I'll email the dealership and see if I can get more details on the setup.

When I got it installed, I HAD JUST GOTTEN A NEW CAR and so how that worked wasn't a big priority as long as it worked. I mostly wanted them to get the hell out of my way so I could get off the lot and DRIVE. Y'all should be able to appreciate that. They're also an hour away from me so I can't just drop in on them and ask. Sorry.

I'll see if they answer my email.

I haven't heard back from my installer yet but I see there's at least one bypass module available.

Here's what they say. Hope this helps:

Patrick, The basic remote starter that we use in a product of Directed electronics, also we use a Can-Bus module that learns the rolling code of the intelligent key and integrates with the electronics of the G37, finally we make a modification so the remote starter works with the existing factory remote. The system is engaged by hitting the lock button twice, once you get in the car with the intelligent key you step on the brake and the vehicle acknowledges that the key is now in the car and it switches over and u drive away.

I hope this answers your questions.

That I don't remember. It was one of the last things we negotiated and they threw it in at a discount. Sorry.
