Perfect fitment, looks great (IMO), tucks nicely into the bag and rests nicely on the rear seat middle arm-rest during the summer months. Worth every penny.

After sitting here on my desk for the better part of a week, my buddy over this evening to help me remove the OEM shift ****. He's an engineer, with lots of tooling and woodworking skills. On top of which, he has a couple of really large channel-locks.


REMOVAL

Sometimes the OEM **** just unscrews. But from what I've read, most of the time it's secured to the shaft with loctite, and doesn't budge. It was that way with me.

To remove the 6MT shifter trim, you just grab the front lip, pushing your fingers into the leather boot and under the edge. Then firmly yank on the trim piece. It unsnaps easily enough. Then with a little bit of work, you can unsnap and pull down the front section on the center dash. There are more detailed instructions to be found somewhere in this forum, but that's the gist of it.

With the trim loose, you still can't get it off, because shift-****. But you can get a 18" or larger set of channel locks underneath, to secure the shaft from twisting

Then another set of channel-locks for the top. The leather sides quickly came off, where the wrench could bite into the plastic well enough. At this point, it still took a *LOT* of effort to turn the ****. It didn't just "break free", as I was expecting. Instead, it was a struggle to turn it with the channel-locks a quarter of a turn over every thread. It wasn't until the last few threads that I could finally turn it by hand.

You might read a lot of chatter (from myself included) about using a strong strap-wrench to break the **** free. Yeah, that didn't work. Rubber and leather are both surfaces that give, so even when tightened as much as humanly possible, the rubber strap wrench just slips around. Don't bother with a strap wrench.

And of course, the **** was destroyed. Well, certainly not "destroyed" per se, but ruined nonetheless.

Screw it on. 10 seconds. /done LOL




APPEARANCE

I love this thing! IMHO, I think it's gorgeous. While the camera is far more critical than my own eye, it seems a perfect(ish) match for the brushed aluminum trim, as well as a perfect fit for the overall design. The CARSMO *****, the OEM dashboard trim, and the Titanium Shift ****... they all work together.

And I like that it adheres to this modding axiom that is mostly philosophical BS, which is to make modifications that look as if they were OEM. I think this qualifies.




DRIVING EXPERIENCE

Titanium material notwithstanding, this is still a solid hunk of metal, so it's pretty heavy. And I was expecting that heft to really come into play. Honestly, I can't say as that matters. Go figure.

However, it fits in the palm of my hand with symmetric perfection. There's a more tactile experience to the vibrations transmitted through the shifter. And there's that amazing feel of brushed titanium. It's just cool, man. Just is.

Completely worth the cost and the effort, IMO. Very happy with this mod.



Next up in this area: a TWM Short Throw Shifter. But that's a story for next summer.

It sits lower, right? Any comments on its height vs stock?

 

1/4", or maybe a 1/2" lower. Either way, not noticeable in any way either good or bad.

 

Another perfectly executed addition John (except for the shredded OEM ****).
Really looks like it was made just for that application, couldn't get a better match in the metal and the overall design w/ what you've already got going.

I purchased a pair of Logo Projectors from WindFireAuto.com. These are direct, plug-n-play replacements for the courtesy lights in the front door panels. It was only $38 shipped, and pretty fascinating to see at night, so for now it's a keeper.

 

Always tweaking this list... adding, removing, changing intended brand or design, moving plans from one year to the next. But anyway, here's the current plans for the next 3 years, above and beyond the approximately $10k I've spent on mods and miscellaneous stuff over the last 3 years:

What happened to the coilover plans, or is that further out?
That gear change will be worth the wait I'd imagine.
I should follow your lead w/ this stuff, a pretty good way to plan. I've got almost 70k on mine now so I think I'm still keeping it another 3 years so who knows
