Noise from headliner

I've been on a hunt-and-fix mission lately regarding interior noises. Found one in the rear deck that was actually associated with the car seat clips..whatever they are called. Small pieces of electrical tape - invisible to the eyes - fixed that one.

But there is one that is hard to describe coming from the headliner. I wouldn't call it a creak - but that is a close description. The sound is more like...imagine a walmart plastic bag is under the headliner ....or...it is almost as if it is something sticky that is becoming 'unstuck' and 'restuck'. Very hard to describe.

Anyone else have this? And - any known fix?

FYI - my car did have hail damage fixed last spring - so yes, the headliner was removed and reinstalled.

I had one in the headliner when I first got the car. I just started pressing on different areas until I could recreate the squeak, turned out to be just behind the sunroof toward the drivers side. I pressed it up and down at that spot a bunch of times and eventually it stopped making noise, I think you're right about it being something sticky that comes un stuck.

If it is in some way a creak... lubricating the rubber round the outside lining of the moonroof is something I have had to do almost once a season. it is worth a try...

It's very likely the Velcro tape came loose or no longer stick. Permanent fix is to replace the tape or put insulation in between.

Mine was making the same noise in the same spot. It was driving me nuts and was worse with the sunroof shade open. I opened the sunroof and closed it again and noise disappeared. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Haha

I have always had this one as well.

Almost as annoying as the rattle from the bottom of the passenger seat which is tied to the plastic finish trim piece along the sliding rail coming loose.

Or, the one in the console that squeaks until you lodge your hand between the console and passenger seat.

I find it amazing my 2013 g37 has multiple rattles coming from dash, door, and headliner yet my 2003 f150 lightning with 200,000 miles is solid as a rock and rattle free?!
