Wheel offset

Hello this is my first post! My name is Hunter and I have a 2013 G37x Sedan in moonlight white. It’s finally time for my first purchase!

I am interested in purchasing Konig Ampliform 18x8.5 wheels from summit racing. The two offsets they offer are +35mm and +45 mm.

My question is will both of these sizes work? And if so are their any advantages to one over the other?

I had this trouble when looking for rims on my g37xs, but I would get +35 it will be flush with the front fenders but it will be a bit tucked in the rear of the car. If you get +45 they will be closer to the inside of the fender. I have 19x8.5 +35 square set up, and since I have the big brakes I had to go +35 to fit over them. My alignment is -0.5 up front, and -1 in the rear if that helps. Also no rubbing issue, and I am lowered on swift springs. As far as performance wise goes I am not educated on it to say much about it, but it will play a bit with your suspension geometry but going to a +35 from a +43 offset did not impact the drive of it. Unless you go too a +20 then it would impact the suspension geometry a lot more since the rims a lot further away from the center of the wheel hub.

Yep, what Mr Amir said^^^ +35, and you can run 245/45/18s all around for a nice fit.

Welcome to the site!

Nice IPL!
These Konigs in 20" clear Akebonos, but I'd contact the vendor and see if they can verify that the Ampliforms will clear in the size you're wanting.

The wheel spec changes mentioned here do not much affect suspension geometry. Scrub radius is a tad longer and wheel rate could change a tiny bit, but neither are sensible at the steering wheel or seat bottom unless you're a professional racer. You won't need to get an alignment.

My experience has been a little different.

On my 11 Sport Sedan, with a 35 mm offset, there is much more tugging on the steering wheel under braking on uneven surfaces, compared to the stock 45mm offset and
I find the initial turn in is a little more "numb".

I am on the hunt for 19 x 8.5 rims and will only look at 45mm offsets.... Right now, Enkei TFRs are at the top of my list

PS, Yes I am too old to care about "flush fit" and "poke". I like my suspension to work as designed

I suspect tire difference could be the culprit here, especially if they were wider than the stock front tires.

I should have given more details... both front tires were 225-50-18 in the above example.
The 35mm offset rim is 8" wide, the stock rim is 7.5" wide with an offset of 45mm.
Here is a visual on how they compare:
• Orange is stock 18 x 7.5 ET45
• Green is 18 x 8 ET 35

(graphic from: https://www.willtheyfit.com)

In this example, the outer part of the rim will be 16.4mm further out (poke) compared to stock and the inner part of the rim is 3.7mm moved outward.
The factory offset will do its best to "centre" the forces on the wheel under braking resulting in minimal steering wheel shake under braking on uneven surfaces.

If you want to compare your own rims and tire diameter, pop over to: https://www.willtheyfit.com
