So I've thought a lot about it (really slow day at work yesterday) and I'm going to get springs, not coilovers. I want something that drops a little more than Swift. I had Eibach's on my 08 G35 and liked everything about them, I just wished the car was a little lower. But now looking back at old pictures, I like the look of the drop, and that's probably because now I'm comparing it to my stock G37.

Anyway, if I go with Eibach, I'm going to buy them today because there's a 20% off sale that ends today, and I could get them for $198. My question is, should I get the 6399.140 that is for the 07-08 AWD sedan, or the 6394.140 which is for the 2010+ AWD coupe? Which one would drop the most on my 2012 AWD sedan, and which would have less of the droopy butt issue? I've searched around a ton for pictures but can't find any of an AWD sedan with the 6394.140 on it except for VIVID's, but I was hoping to see a few of each to compare.

Tein Basis coilovers can be had for under $600, allowing you go go as low as you like, with shocks that are designed for it.

Newt is all over this thread, so I'm surprised he didn't recommend it. Unless there's some reason they don't apply to the AWD. I'm not well versed in constraints for the X, so maybe this isn't an option.

Talk to Adam or Krystian over at race consulting agency in the Chicago area. They'll price match and usually free shipping. Plus they know their stuff.

I believe Ksport and Fortune are currently the only games in town for AWD. Stance, thanks to a call from RexHavoc, are indicating early next year.

There's a few others like Megan, BC, & D2, but the two you mentioned are the one's I'd consider if I had an X.

And yeah John, I'd be whoring out those Teins if they made an AWD version, it's a shame they don't.

So what is it about the AWD that's different? I can't see how the rears would matter, so it must have something to do with clearance or placement in the front.

The lower mount on the front shock is different than the RWD, here's a pic

Bringing this thread back to the 19" Rays for a minute, they weigh a little more than what I've read. I used a very accurate postage scale. I used a piece of wood to get the wheels to balance on the scale, since it was too small for the wheels. But I zeroed it out once I put the wood on it.

This is the 8.5" rear wheel:

And this is the 8" front wheel:

Size: 173.4 KB

They have the TPMS sensors on them, gray paint, and some brake dust, but I doubt that adds 3 pounds. I'm sure that's still lighter than my 18" duck feet wheels though.

I'm going to need to get these powder coated because the paint doesn't look that great. But I got them for $410, so not bad.

That's a great price Parker.

I do like those wheels even if they are a couple more lbs. than listed. If I want to make up the weight I should probably skip a meal or two. 'Course that's sprung weight vs. the wheels.

By the way, the second number on that scale is ounces. So the rear wheel is 23 lbs, 7.0 ounces.

Well I technically paid $760, but that came with new snow tires. I just sold those to someone for $350, so now I'm only into the wheels $410. I'm going to try to get them on my car today, and then I'll post pictures. If not, I'll do it Monday. I decided to wait till I see them on before choosing how to lower my car. I've changed my mind a bit, and will probably either go with Swift springs or KSport coilovers.

If I did get the springs, what's the smartest way to go about a camber kit? Do I install the springs without them, see if my alignment is in spec and then order the camber kit if I need it? Or should I just order everything up front? If I can get by without one, it would be nice to save $500. But if I do end up needing one, I'm assuming the total labor cost will be more if I install the springs and camber kit at separate times, rather than all at once.

I had mine powder coated, wound up getting done twice but that's another story. Now that I have them done I think I'm going to have the fronts stripped and redone in a gunmetal grey with flake. But the black on black looks good IMO.

You "shouldn't" need a camber kit with just springs. I decided to go with them just in case and it enabled me to get much closer in spec so that with a 4 wheel rotation helps. I hope you're happier with springs than I was, I was so frustrated with them I was ready to sell the car.

Well I haven't decided yet. The price is a big factor though, so if there's a chance that with springs I can save even more by not needing a camber kit, that makes a bigger difference. Here are the options I'm thinking of:

OPTION 1
Swift springs: $300
Camber kit: $500
Labor: $700 (overestimate)
Total: $1500
Result: 1-inch drop

OPTION 2
Swift springs: $300
No camber kit
Labor: $500
Total: $800
Result: 1-inch drop

OPTION 3
KSport coils: $850
Camber kit: $500
Labor: $700
Total: $2050
Result: 2-inch drop

So if I don't need a camber kit, springs will save me a lot of money and I think that's worth it. If I do, I'd rather spend $550 more and get coils.

Why did you hate springs so much?

If you keep the coils more on the mild side (like a 1.5" drop) you can probably get by w/ just the rear 4 bolt kit instead of the full front arm/rear arm, rear toe bolt kit. The rear 4 bolt kit uses wider concentric mounted bolts that you use on the OEM camber arm and OEM toe slot, this costs about $50 if you DIY the slot cuts (very easy BTW).
Here's the kit and you need two of them.
SPC Performance Camber/Toe Cam Bolt Kit; Pair, Reqr's 1 per Wheel INFINITI FX35

I got the wheels on today. They look really good. I don't even think I'll need spacers once I lower it. I don't have center caps on in this picture. I'm going to get the wheels done in a glossy metallic black and the center caps in a dark gray, so I'll post more pictures once that's done.
