Painted my wheels.....opinions please

When I got the car the wheels had some terrible curb rash that the previous owner tried to cover with a terribly matched paint. I think they must have used one of those testors silver paint pens. The good thing was that it flaked off just by using my fingernail.

So I removed all 4 wheels and sanded them all with a red scotchbrite pad. My recommendation is to wear something that covers your entire body because I got some sort of super itchy rash from sanding the wheels that's lasted about a week and a half so far. You wouldn't believe the places this rash has shown up!

I used the Dupli-Color primer (2 cans) with the Chrysler graphite paint BCC0414 (4 cans) and the Same brand clear coat (2 cans).

Any way, here are a few pictures of the process. I had my wife tape off the Mt Fuji symbol on the center cap to give it a little nicer finished look.

The car is lowerd on Tein H tech springs, and I just installed a rear toe and camber bolt kit. The front was way out of spec, so I've got the spc front camber kit arriving today.

Thanks fellas!

Thanks.

It's really not that hard. The hardest part is sanding the wheels down and having the patience to wait between coats and spraying light enough to not cause drips. There's nothing really complicated about it, though.

Yes, it's metallic. I'll get some better pictures after a nice wash and wax. In person the metal flake is very noticeable.

Haha I know, right? I wanted to wait until the paint fully cured before adding any silicon based products.

Looks pretty awesome! I'm thinking of painting the crappy 17" wheels that came with my car now that they're off and the tires are removed... I'm going to use them for my winter tires so it will be a good set of wheels to experiment with
