Tire question

Hi guys wonder if anyone could help with this. I have a 2009 g37 sport sedan. I have a set of 245/45/18 tires that I want to run on the front with the oem 7 and a half rims and put on 255/45/18 continentals on rears with the oem 8 and a half rims. (Summer tires) Will this work and will there be a big gap etc. thanks for the help emper

Are you referencing the gap between the tires and the fender/body of vehicle? The gap will be ~1/3" larger in size. I think the sidewall height of an OEM 18" tire is 55...

Tire question

Just wonder if they would look ok for summer tire setup as winters have to come off soon, trying to save up for fi exhaust (Canada and exchange rate, need I say more) and since the 245 tires I have are not bad, thought I could just add 255 continentals on oem 8 and half rims and put 245s on the 7 and half rims. Really just wondering if there will be a huge gap from top of tire to top of car and how it will look etc. newbie so need help lol. Thanks in advance for help.

Infiniti Manual regarding tire specs for a Sport sedan with 18" wheels:

Original Equipment Front Size 1: 225/50-18
Original Equipment Rear Size 1: 245/45-18

Why not just put the 245s in the rear and get 225/50-18 up front? Per Infiniti spec. That option should be cheaper than the 255/45-18 option - less rubber, less dollars.

Thanks Connoisseur for the reply. The treadware left in the 245's is about 50 percent left so thought I would put those on front, the 225's I have are about shot. That is why I figured I would go with the 255's continentals as I wanted better treadware on the rears as it is sport model. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Was just wondering if this setup would work and if anyone ever tried this and what it looked like. Thanks emper

You really are better off with stock sizes on the OE 18s. I've researched alternative sizes, and anything other than stock is going to have excessive height variations F/R.

I ran F: 235/5018 and R: 255/45/18 dropped on Eibach and loved the stance I got from the setup

Stance, maybe....but a taller sidewall is a handling downgrade.

The height variance F/R is still > OE, and you get taller sidewalls which will roll more.

I should have been more clear as to the other downside to non OE sized tires on the stock wheels. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have wider tires too, and your car looks great....but there is no functional benefit on the OE duckfeet.
