Decided to take off the stock tires.....
I went with the Continental's DWS. Now, all the snow has melted I'm ready for the next snow fall

My fault on the size of the pics, i need to learn how to make them smaller.

The DWS is a great tire, nice choice. I have the same for my "winter" setup, although I try not to drive in the snow. Thats what the wifes CRV is for. But i like to think the DWS will serve well in a pinch if I'm caught in a surprise snowfall. Keep in mind it is still considered an all season tire.

I cannot express how much I hate the OE Dunlop tires on this car. I thought I could live with them, but I couldn't. 2000 miles and they were off. Replaced them with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I run General Altimax Arctic in the winter. I try to extract as much performance as I can out of this car given whatever season it is in, as you can tell lol.

great, let us know how you do! i am curious to hear reports of how the DWS holds up in the snow on the G37. are you AWD or RWD?
i took mine out for just a quick test drive (not a real commute) in ~1" of snow a few weeks ago and it did OK. i'm RWD, and using 225/50/18 all around on my staggered S rims.

The Conti DWS are probably some of the best-rated all seasons for snow and wet weather traction out there. I've been running them for over a year now (225/55/17) and they've done very well in heavy rain and light snow (1-2") combined with the AWD.
The only thing I do not like about the DWS is you are giving up some serious road feel from the stock Goodyears. I think it has to do with the sidewall construction. 32psi compared to the RS-As make the DWS feel mushy and you lose quite a bit of the G steering response. Pumping them up to around 35psi or so helps restore some of that feel, but it's not great. This would be the only downside that I've seen to date and maybe that is only evident on the 17s due to the sidewall height.
When it comes time to replace the DWS I'm going consider something else due to the lack of response from these. I've heard similar complaints from other members as well.

That's exactly the same set of tires I got for my 6MT Sedan, DWS's all the way, they are now surprisingly #2 Ultra High Performance All-Season tires ( were #1) according to tirerack's survey results...
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...jsp?type=UHPAS
but notice the # of miles reported with DWS compared to the now #1 Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 , its 33,887,539 vs. 160,103 miles reported so DWS's are no matter what #1 overall and best performance all season tire.... I had no problems driving my RWD 6MT with these on even in like 3-4 inch snow while other AWD cars were barely moving, and I had some slidewayys fun with those too best all season tires out there IMO !

^8-10" of snow in your RWD and you were moving on DWS? Do you even know what 8-10" of snow looks like? roflmao. I call BS only because my roommate had the DWS on his 05 G35 RWD and in minimal snow (like under 3") it wasn't very pleasant...
You guys should try a summer tire on your Gs. They are the best way to access the full potential of this car's dynamics while driving.
Then put a severe weather rated tire on in winter. Get the best traction in both seasons. DWS is a decent tire if you have AWD in winter but there really isn't any comparison on ice and you sacrifice summer performance pretty heavily.. plus they aren't cheap.

This year has been certainly more unusual than other and also DWS sure do handle wet road conditions way better than the OEM RE050s so given that I am not gonna get 2 sets of tires twice a year considering there is no need for winter tires and DWS are good enough... will be a different story when I get another set of rims then I'll use the stock sport 18s for winter tires and slap some summer or 3 season tires on the new set

Yeah well maybe it was less on the roads than elsewhere , regardless it was great and also the fact that I just installed them too so the tread is still like 98% lol. No need to bash me right away. Also the reason why I didnt put severe weather rated tires on for winter is because we dont get much snow here in central NJ.

Living in a climate like NJ though where it can change drastically and quickly, I probably would run a tire like this though.
Nokian WRG2. Isn't effective by the summer heat but is made out of oils that aren't subject to freezing in the winter time either and is actually severe weather rated. We have the SUV version on my parents X5 and it is a phenomenal tire that really made a big *** difference vs the OEM all seasons. The positives being the enhanced winter performance at no cost for summer use. Nokian is kinda slow at entering the US market but they are getting there. This company invented the winter tire back in the 20s and 30s. They know their **** when it comes to snow driving.
US tire regulations are just so relaxed that there is such a poor awareness of what actually happens in the winter. The problem with most all seasons is the fact that when it gets cold, the rubber compounds get hard a rock which isn't what you want when driving on cold roads or in cold snow. Need something that keeps soft and pliable to maintain traction and grip.
Something to think about. All season tires are pretty much banned in Europe or it is rated for summer. They run summer tires, winter tires or 'all weather' tires similar to what I linked above that are rated for use in the winter.
