You can't control what other drivers do but you can certainly control what you, as a driver, do.
I had the x with the stock goodyears- im only recommending not driving a nice car in nyc in bad weather thats all

Remember the Halloween day storm? I got caught in it. The area I was in got 15 inches. Probably about the limit.

i live in snowy Buffalo NY and i have never owned snows on any of my vehicles although several have been SUV's. My Subaru which had Yokohama AVID is 18 years old and just sitting now, never had snows. My 08 charger which is RWD but heavy never had snows. Had an german spec BMW 5 series which never had snows...Always had good all season tires though; Michelin or equivalent on all of them and i work in the snowbelt. Mostly all you see here is AWD/X with all season tires. If you dont get much snow, and you hanker for RWD go for it!

buckets hit the nail on the head. No matter what you buy winter tires make all the difference. The stock Dunlops on my X aren't bad but I did do more unplanned sliding than I had hoped for.

I brought an x on the premise of not swapping tires with seasons and slightly better traction in all weather conditions, not just snow but rain also. The rwd version will be fine on snow tires, but knowing I'll want to boost the power of the car down the road, the increase of power should be easier to deal with in bad weather with power going to more then two wheels.

I live in northern New England and if I had to choose btwn a 2wd with snows or a 4wd with all seasons I would take the 2wd with 4 snow tires hands down. snows help going uphill and down hill and stopping. All seasons just put your azz in a ditch

Beyond the argument that snow tires make a HUGE difference when the white stuff falls, it's just as important to consider another factor. When outside temperatures drops below 40 degrees F, the rubber compound in snow tires remain much more pliable than all-season tires. Even on dry roads, snow tires will corner and stop better in the cold temps expected as winter closes in.

I've only had a little experience with slick (more icy than snowy) roads so far in my 6MT. Takes a lot more care to start out that it did with my '09 xS. But if you feather the clutch carefully or start in 2nd gear it doesn't seem to be a problem. I have the same tires on the S as the xS.

We will see in deep snow ... haven't had any yet

My 09 37xS sedan wasn't as great as I hoped it would be in the snow last winter. Never got stuck but did my fair share of sliding around. In all fairness I was on stock Dunlops nearing the end of their lives. Gonna be running 19" blizzaks this yr hopefully that works out better.

Man I hope my x sedan does well in the snow without snow tires. I'm surprised to see opinions here that a rwd with tires dies better than an x without! I'm coming off of two straight audi a4's that were unstoppable in snow with all season tires. Is audi quattro system that different than infiniti?

Don't drive with a child during very bad weather.

We get occasional blizzards in New Jersey.Driving was banned during the snow emergency until the roads were cleared.
There is usually plenty of warning of heavy snow so get what you need and stay off the road until they are cleared.

My G stayed in the garage for one day.

Seconded. Currently I have a coupe with a stick and snow tires....not a big deal, even in New England. When I had my G35x, I also drove through 15+ inches of snow because the plow hadn't come through my street yet. I still have a funny picture of it with the rims stuffed full of snow after the fact, I'll see if I can dig it up.
