Question 2009 Infiniti G37x Coupe Rims Question

Hey all,

As you can see I'm completely new to this site and just picked up a 09 g37x coupe. I'm planning on buying some after market rims and tires for it.

After reading one other post, it appears that it might not be a good idea doing staggered for the AWD coupe. I am wanting to go 20" staggered but not to sure if it's a good idea now...

Open to any suggestions! Let me know your professional opinion.

Much appreciated!

Why are you worried? The car is RWD most of the time, having wider tires in the back won't effect anything

I run a 245/35R20 285/30R20 setup in the warmer months. 10k miles on them and no issues. Search around here, plenty people do the same.

I agree that staggered shouldn't be an issue.... that being said, you might want to buy more than just the rims. Personally I would recommend the entire wheel.

Technically, a staggered set up may destroy the AWD system (most AWD vehicles come from the factory with the same size tires all around). But it works for many for long periods of time, so enjoy.

Search this topic on the forum - it has been discussed over and over. It's true, the AWD system can be compromised if the diameter of all four wheels is not the same. This is why the AWD Coupes with the sport package and 19-inch rims do NOT come from the factory with a staggered wheel set-up. Some guys on this forum do run staggered set-ups, but the diameter of their four wheels is within a reasonable tolerance. The dead giveaway is if you are running staggered wheels and your AWD light is always lit on your dash, you are sure to f*ck up your AWD system over time. Here's a link to a cool web site to help you calculate the diameter (and other metrics) for tires and rims: Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com Lastly, you can always check the owner's manual and ask a tech at your dealer for their input. Good luck.

--> in the sake of the AWD its best to have all matching sets of wheels. If you plan on doing odd / extreme offsets this may cause a slight bit of problems with the front interior wall well being a little bit short for those offsets. If it is true what is quoted above then you at least have an option to rotating tires, if the Rear wheels have eaten more tread.

I say hell go awd same size rim/ tire all around is less of headache for buying that's for sure.

"excuse me mr tire guy. i want 4 of xx/xx/Rxx thanks!"

"excuse me mr. tire guy i want 2 of xx.xx .xx. and 2 of this and then no no, no.. i said 2, no ahhh!! screw this "

When I go in for tires they know the staggered set up well. Our cars are not something out of the norm.

I think the service manual says every 7500 miles. I do it closer to every 5000 with my winter setup.

If you're going to go with a staggered setup which is completely fine, like Nuke said 245/35-20 and 285/30-20 is perfect so I would suggest sticking with that set up, but the next thing to look into is the offset of the rim itself, it's very tricky and complicated, but the correct offsets with the correct ride height can make your car look amazing or it can make your car look god awful if you don't get it right
