Trying to understand Wheel options

Hey guys,

Seems I'm a rarity around here, because...

I'm NOT planning on touching the suspension because I live up North where it tends to snow a LOT in winter, and summer roads aren't in the best of shape either. I've scraped the bottom a few times just doing regular driving around here. So she has to stay at STOCK HEIGHT.

I'm interested to know if there's anyone out there running a G37 at stock height with any aftermarket 18" wheels. Just curious how they look with the wheel gap.

I've been browsing online and it seems that the recommended 18x7.5 is pretty rare, and the 18x8 is a lot more common.

Does going for a wider wheel change anything for the better/worse?

Or any other helpful info would be great.

18" will look fine without lowering the X. 18's are a factory option for the XS which has the same suspension and wheel gap as the X.
FWIW - I had an X and lowered it 7/8". It looked much better, handled a wee bit nicer and there was absolutely no problem driving around here during the heavy winter storms. It was actually fun going out in the storm. Winter tires too

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Just slap in the specs on your oem rims and the aftermarket rims your installing and you can see a rough idea of how it should look. Keep in mind some tires are the same size but actually are a different width than others.

After sitting and staring at the calculator for a second, I realized what a HUGE help it is.

Thanks.
