Blizzak LM-25

Looking to replace my rear Blizzak LM-25's (245/45/18) as the treads are down to 3 or 4/32nds and noticed that Tirerack sells them in this size but only in a "run-flat". So a few questions I have are:
1. What's the benefit of a winter run-flat?
2. I noticed it says "OE Vehicle Use Only" - so am I to assume I cannot use this a replacement rear winter tire?
3. Does anyone know of anyone that still carries the LM-25? (I had a good 3 winters with this LM-25 line and have been hearing not so good comments about the LM-60)

Unfortunately that tire won't be an option for a couple of reasons. Most importantly you can't use a run flat on one end and a non run flat on the other. They are built so differently inside that the car will handle horribly. Also, that tire was developed by Bridgestone with BMW to be used exclusively on their 5-series sedans and 6-series coupes. The type of internal construction, size of tread slab, etc differs compared to other LM25 run flats and would again upset the handling on other vehicles.

A much better option would be the LM60's. Bridgestone says the LM25 and LM60 are mixable when installed in axle pairs. The newest tires need to be on the rear axle. As always, a full set of the same all around is the best scenario.

Thanks Neal. Also, if I am running 225/45/18 on the fronts should I be running 245/45/18 on the rears for a staggered winter set-up?

I have a 2008 G37S Coupe (My summer oem setup is 225/45/19 fronts and 245/40/19 rears). I had been running a winter set up with an 18 inch rim with 225/45/18 on the front and 245/45/18 on the rears - just wondering if you would recommend another staggered setup. I know a lot of people run 225/50/18 all around - but then you loose that staggered setup. Winter set up below.

The fronts are a little short, but do make load. Seems that set up has been working ok for you. I'd keep it as is or in the future move into a 225/50-18 up front.
