Thanks

continental dws

If stock size is 225x50x18 - does the 225x45x18 work as a replacement?

the snow part of the DWS will wear down then basically become a basic all season. snow tires are a softer compound and will wear faster then regular tires.

DWS tends to be the crowd favorite. Not made in the oem 225, 235's on 6+ week b/o, and 245's in stock. 225/45 is a tad shorter than normal. Can't make any promises using that size.

what are the BEST all seasons money can buy, for all seasons, seriously. I want quality. I'm tired of switching 2X a year. I'm not on a track.

Is it a 'stretch' to put a 245/45/18 on an g37 18*8.5" wheel or no?

this depends on what you want from the tire...casual driving? or more spirited driving?

UHP a/s I would go with the Conti DWS

grand touring a/s I would go with the Michelin Primacy MXV4 (I use this currently)

both are in the top 2 of their categories...in 245-45-18, Conti is $172 in and Michelin is $203

+1 on the Conti's but need more info on where you want to focus the tire's abilities.

thanks all.

I have the dunlop all seasons currently. traction isn't a problem with them, so far. While I'm not racing anyone, I do like to take the twisties at decent speeds. I am in Philly where we get a ton of snow of late. but I have a jeep. I take the jeep if it's going to be unplowed snow.

I miss my hi-po summer tires on my previous cars for 1 thing. I think they vastly improve body roll in twisties. BETTER SHOULDER! I had michelin ps2 on my Audi and pzero nero on my volvo. am I wrong? do my dunlap AS have a ****ty shoulder or lack thereof?

but i'm done with switching rims/rubber 2x a year.

I put the rwd S RSB in my xS sedan and that helped a bit. but the understeer is horrible in this car. so the tire shoulder may help me out. since I can't get coilovers. ftl.

Looks like cornering is what you are focused on...if you want better cornering and an a/s tire, go with the Conti DWS

just a side thought: if you take the jeep out in nasty cold weather, you might also consider the Conti DW...it's a summer tire but has a 340 treadwear rating (the PS2 has a 220 and dunlop has like a 260)...and the DW is the #1 tire in its class on tirerack

cornering! thx for helping me with the proper terminology.

conti dws is what i'll focus on, thx all.

can't go with a summer tire. I sometimes take the G on long ski trip drives in the winter.

I picked up a set of Goodyear Triple Tread 225/50/18, they had a great rebate going on and I needed to get rid of those horrible stock tires. I got them 1 day before the blizzard that hit chicago. To give them a real test I went out the night the blizzard hit, Needless to say I had a blast driving around looking at everyone who was buried. I do have a XS but the handling was night and day.

Excellent Snow Traction, Great wet traction even in heavy rain. Not sure how it will handle on warmer days they wont see many of those as I have a set of 20's I will be throwing on.

They do have a slight vibration because of the tread but overall I am very impressed.
