Larger Diameter Tires

I purchased a G37 Sport Sedan in December and I am thinking of upgrading to 20" wheels. I hate to ask this question but I have searched and don't see it anywhere. I know most people here drop after larger wheels but has anyone just gone with a larger size tire to fill up more of the wheel well. Putting on slightly larger diameter tires will only change the speedometer slightly but the benifits are a little more side wall therefore not too harsh a ride.

If you are going with 20" as well as getting larger tires and trying to fill the wheel gap w/o a drop you would have to increase the size of the tire substantially which would result in a fairly big inacurracy in the speedometer

I have a 4 wheel drive truck so I am not trying to make my G a 4 wheel drive. I have 18inch OEM wheels with approx. 27 inch diameter tires and 41/2 inch side walls. If I go to 20inch wheels with 28 inch tires, this gives me 4" side walls but about 1/2inch more tire to help fill the gap. When my speedo reads 60 mph, I will actually be going 62.5 mpg (not a big deal).

Larger wheels doesn't mean you need to go with larger tires, just stick to the same Outer Diameter. 20s don't look good without low profile tires anyways

I think you are misunderstanding things or making them overcomplicated. Like Sam said the overall diameter just needs to remain the same. So when people get larger diameter wheels the tires associated with those larger wheels have a lower aspect ratio in order to keep the overall diameter the same, and thus keep the speedometer accurate etc.
