Ride quality

I am considering moving from stock rims/tires to 20" Vossen 084s with 255/35 up from and 285/30 in the rear.

For those running 20's, how much ride quality am I giving up. Will the ride be significantly rougher than stock? By the way, I will be running stock suspension in the near term too if that matters.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

yup the ride quality is definitely effected... it will be way rougher. last weekend i drove with my stocks on, and i'm running 245/30/20 F and 285/30/20 R, and man the difference is like night and day. even my passengers told me how different the ride was.

IMO the degradation of stock ride quality is noticeable but not severe. It will get even worse if you stiffen with sway bars or aftermarket stiffer springs. The main reason is the shorter sidewall of the 20" tires don't absorb the bumps and dips as much. I find it particularly noticeable on rough roads or on concrete expansion joints.

I have 20's, Tanabe springs, and front and rear Hotchkis sways.

Ride quality is good for what it is. I have h.tech springs & 20's, and the ride isn't that much harsher than stock.

255/35 is 2.4% faster and 255/40 is 1.3% slower. so either would work.
