Scratched Rims

Hi All,
Tough weekend. Just woke up and was taking a look at my beautiful car when I noticed curb rash on the rims. I didn't have enough time to take a longer look but it looks like all the rims are rashed. Funny thing is I have never touched a curb with this car, I have only had 6 months, and am positive I haven't rashed it yet. Only thing I can think of is the automated car wash I go through but they claim that it is made of plastic and shouldn't damage rims but are willing to inspect it for me. Any ideas?

I'm not really certain about the G37 rims, but I know on my G35, the Optional 18" rims would get torn up in the car wash. If you didn't curb your car, I would have to say its the mostly likely suspect.....

Most dealerships have rim repair specialists come on site to do repairs....ask your dealer.......have them charge the car wash if they are to blame.

I'm guessing the car wash will deny this one. Anyone know a good repairer in Boston, MA area?

Call your dealer... They normally have someone that can fix it up for around $100 depending on the damage. If it not that noticeable, I wouldn't worry about it.

Even if you're really careful, this will happen again. Give it a couple of days and see if it still bothers you enough to get it fixed.

It happened to me on my G35 coupe, and after a few days I barely noticed it.
(but that was only 1 wheel...)

please check this post but after thinking all day the only thing that could have caused this is potholes. Can you all take a look today and see if you have unexplained rash? The design of the rim and low profile tires causes this in my opinion can anyone confirm. Obviously this may not apply to warmer states

I have the sales person check my rims before it goes into the car wash and if anything happens after I go get the person that checked me in.

The third day I had my G and washed it for the first time, (last month) I noticed my rear passenger wheel with some rashes. Not too noticeable but when you know its there, it's as irritating as a bad itch. So I took it back to my salesman the day after and told him about it. He went over to the service department rep and told her to place it "under warranty". I thought they were going to change it with one of the wheels they had in stock but no, they actually ordered a new wheel. I just had it replaced today. So, the bad itch is gone and I'm happy once again. Kudos to Dave of Infiniti of Guam!!

pothole damage fixed

sorry to hear about the damage

If it is pothole damage and not obvious curb rash I had the same issue

The first day I ahd the car went in and out of a large one edge fo the tire started on the main road then dropped into the hole, scarping the rim pretty bad (a little bit of a gouge too)

Called up my dealership and told them what happened, since I had bought the tire protection plan which covers pothole damage I asked what could be done even though I didnt meet the criteria for not being able to hold a seal between rim and tire. They said they would take the wheel off and smack it with a sledge hammer until it didnt hold a seal and write up the insurance claim.

Got a new tire within days of the tire protection plan paperwork clearing. Already worth the money

Good luck with your repair or whatever you decide

That's a great salesman. The service they provide post-sale is the true mark of a great salesman. Nice job.
