Rear Tires - How Wide Can I Go?

Just like I did for my '03 G35, I want to go wider on the rears. For the AT coupe, looking at going to 295/40R19s (from the OE 245/40R19). It appears I should have no problem, in fact I thought of going to 305 but may have to do some minor mods. I prefer not to go to 20s (the lower profile will not look good w/ the OE fronts).

Anyone already tried this? Any advice?

No. Plan to keep stock wheels. I really like the way they look, plus after spending 45K, ain't too much $$ left. Especially if I want to look at other add-ons as they come to market.

you will no way no how fit a 295 on the oem rear 9" rim. To be honest a 275 would be pushing it on a 9" rim. I would say go with 265.

I've been running 275 on the G35 oem 8" wheel for 3 years w/ no problems. Seems to me that a 9" could take more. Wonder if I go to a 295/30R19 instead.

i'm not sure of the oem size for the G35 but I am sure of the G37 and a 295 is not going to work on a 9" rim. i mean sure you can squeeze it on somehow but its not something you should do..

Wow, 295 on a 9" wheel, It would definitley look aggressive. It MAY fit but is it safe??

295 is way too wide for that wheel. Just because you have been lucky and not killed yourself so far doesn't mean it will continue. You'd need a 10" wide wheel to fit that tire size properly, if you can even find any decent tires for this car in that size. Be prepared for it to stick out about 2" outside the fenders too. Good luck.

This is why I'm asking. Doing some more looking, I think the 295 will be too big for the 9". Maybe the 285, or going to 35R19 vs. the 40 would be better. Still playing. Probably got to Discount Tire and have them mount a 275 or 285 to see what it looks like. Then I'll know better. Don't want to spend $600 and not be safe.
