Joining info

I have received a few inquiries from folks interested in joining Transport, so I am posting the draft version of our 2005 joining requirements. This may change pending the meeting mentioned above.

Feel free to PM me or G35Lin (Ed) if you have an questions.
=================

Please note that this is draft info, pending ratification at our January 18, 2005 team meeting

Thank you for your interest in joining Team Transport.

As we have stated before, we welcome vehicles from stock to wild. We have folks who are enthusiasts, AutoX, drag race, as well as build for show. Team Transport works hard to create a team/family atmosphere for its members. The Team partners with vendors and industry sources to benefit the whole team, as well assist an individual's plan for their car. We hold our members to high standards of public behavior, as well as requiring that their vehicles be in clean, undamaged condition.

We have three levels of membership available to you. The following outlines the requirements for becoming a member of Transport:

Stage 1: Supporter: ($50 per year)
Interested in the Sport Compact scene, but don't have a car yet, or still a little shy about heading out to the track or shows? Become a Supporting member of Team Transport. At most shows and events we have extra tickets available, if we know you are coming we'll put one aside for you (on a first-come, first-served basis). That's a savings of $15-$20 PER SHOW!

Your membership also enables you to purchase Team Transport branded clothing, vinyls and other marketing materials for your ride. If we receive goodies from vendors or sponsors for the whole Team, you'll be included! You will also be eligible for special discounts from our approved vendors. As a supporting member, you will also be invited to all our events and be granted access to the members area of our forum where the fun continues after the shows and races! Stage 1 members may show and participate in all Stage 2 and Stage 3 member events as an active participant, but will not receive the member benefits of those levels until membership is upgraded.

Stage 2: Motorsports ($125 per year)
Don't necessarily want to show you car at Hot Import Daze, Extreme Autofest...but you can't stay away from Willow Springs, L.A. County Raceway, Solo II events etc... then a Team Transport Motorsports membership is for you. Transport regularly attends drag nights at LACR, track events at California Speedway and organizes team events whenever possible. Stage 2 members receive all the benefits of Stage 1 membership, but will also be supplied with vinyls, vendor product and will benefit from sponsor relationships, group buys and freebies as we receive them.

Stage 3: Show ($150 per year)
To show, you need not have an extra $10k sunk into your ride. We'll help you with your modification plans, leverage our many industry relationships in order to get you exposure, as well as deals on all your performance and ICE needs. You will also benefit from Team equipment, such as canopies, food/drink at events, marketing materials, show "hardware" such as tire stands, team show cards etc...

Stage 3 membership is not for the weak, it takes a special person to detail their car the night before a show, then get up at 430a to load-in, clean the car again and then hang out with your fellow Transport members for up to 12 hours at various locations throughout L.A., O.C. and San Diego. We may even have some trailer-trips coming up in 2005, as our relationships with vendors and sponsors is growing. Stage 3 membership must be approved by the Team. You must be willing to show in at least 4 of the approximately 10 shows we attend each year.

All levels -
** Be a team oriented person
** Exotic modifications are not required, but cleanliness and showroom quality is.
** Extreme professionalism is required when dealing with other teams, vendors, sponsors and individuals on internet forums and in person. You are always representing the Team, even when you do not realize it.

If you agree to the above, you will need to complete the profile attached in this post and then email it to: membership@teamtransport.org Make sure to "save as" and use your name for the document's file name. In your email, enter "[your name]: Team Transport Application" as the subject line.

Along with your profile, your email should include the following information:

1) Introduction (tell us about you! treat this like a job interview/resume.. work history, education, any references?)

2) Why do you want to join Team Transport?

3) Why should Team Transport select you out of all the other applications we receive?

4) Current sponsor obligations, if any.

Our Membership Team will review your profile and contact you with any issues or questions. Stage 1 & 2 memberships are usually approved within a day or two of receipt. If applying for a Stage 3 membership, and your application passes review, you will become a CANDIDATE and will be invited to our next Team Meeting. At this meeting, you will have the chance to interact and meet the other members of the team. You will then have a chance to decide if Team Transport is the team you want to join.

If you decide not to become a member, there will be no hard feelings or ill will... Team Transport will wish you the best of luck, and hopes that you will find a team more in line with your needs. If your interview goes well, and you accept the offered membership you will become a Stage 3 member. You will now be expected to attend shows with the Team. You will be provided a copy of Team Transport's By-Laws, the current show calendar. Stage 1 & 2 members are elgible to upgrade their memberships at any time.

Memberships are effective as soon as you pay your fees.
Stage 1: $50
Stage 2: $125
Stage 3: $150
(mid-year joining fees will be pro-rated for the year ending in December)

To summarize, here is a checklist for the application process:

APPLICANT
1) Read the instructions in this post
2) Download & complete the profile form, and email it with your introduction
3) Wait for the Membership Committee to contact you.

CANDIDATE (Stage 3 only)
4) The CANDIDATES will be invited to a Team Meeting.
5) After the Team Meeting, you may be offered STAGE 3 MEMBERSHIP.

MEMBERS
6) When membership fees are paid, promotion to MEMBER occurs in the forum, as well as notifications to vendors/sponsors.
7) Participate in Team Transport meetings, events and activities.

Thanks again for considering Team Transport and we all look forward to meeting you in person.

~Team Transport

no, you will still have to pay for the fees. The TEam membership fee is to put money into maintaining the site, group equipment(stands, display....) whatever else the team needs as a group!

Hope that helps you

There may also be instances where we get vendors or sponsors to pay for our entrance fees. I am working on this for the China Town Showoff. Stage 2 & 3 members would benefit equally from this.
