Gallery Images ( 600 X 400 ? why so small? )

Hey guys,

just a suggestion : if you upgraded to at least 1024 X 768 you would get more traffic / more people browsing the galleries...!

would be cool to even have a 1024 X 768 + click to download full orginal size...

i see heaps of awesome pics like

and that tiny sizing just doesn't do it justice!

Thanks for the feedback and recommendation. The reason that they are set to 600 X 400 is due to image load times. We are due to have our db servers upgraded in the near future to improve forum performance, so we can look at increasing gallery sizes once that is complete.

But don't you americans have ridiculously fast internet?
(and ridiculously cheap bandwidth) (i'm browsing from australia, and it's still really quick)

Also: images seem to be stored as physical files (not the database server)?

i guess it's just a suggestion but you would definitely find a boost in search engine traffic if you had bigger images (even if you watermarked them)

regards,
loz

^ Not sure, I'm Canadian!

The gallery pics are uploaded from members to the back end servers, so the larger the size of the pics the longer the load times are. Until the performance of the forum is consistently better, we'll need to keep the gallery pics in 600X400 format. We'll assess it again once the servers have been upgraded.

Agreed. It's not about the speed of the internet it's about load on the servers. Great idea and something I'd like to see as well, but I'm just not sure if the servers could handle it.

We'll add it to the nice to have lists.

Well...it's kinda weird for a publicly traded company like IB to have to resort to this kind of thing...last I checked, they did well in their last quarterly report.
