Does anybody have stock spring rate data compared to the Swift springs for the G37x?

The swift springs are described at around 440LB/IN front and 410LB/IN rear. I wouldn't imagine the stock springs are close to being that stiff.

 

Wheels are in that funny category, like computers, photography, taxes, you name it... Where it seems simple until you dive in to the details, and then it's crazy complex before it becomes simple again.

Newt is our sedan forum's resident expert on wheel and tire specs. And even he's still figuring new things out.

 

I have searched endlessly for the OEM spring rates for the X and have come up with nothing. Only thing you can do is deduce from the % stiffer that a brand states and back into the number.

 

The Eibach springs are in the low 500s and are a bit deeper drop and a bit firmer than the Swifts (from all the reviews I've read) so OEMs probably in the 10-15% softer range from the Swifts (mid to high 300s).

 

Any wheels you recommend fitting those specs you mentioned(8.5 +35s)? Are these specs better on swift springs or stock?

What struts do you recommend when going swifts on a xs sedan?

 

No aftermarket strut/shock upgrades for AWD Gs
Konis for the RWDs are really the only true upgrade without going to aftermarket coilovers.

 

You could do koni inserts on the X. I've posted a link in the past....but it's going to cost well over a grand.

 

I've read through various threads, and am a bit mixed up on the proper way to lower. If I go with springs on the X, should I add end links and coil overs to do it right?

If you're going coilovers they'll come with springs. I originally went with swifts and camber kits then coilovers. I have replaced my end links in the rear, thus far OEM seems to be the only option for the front so far.

If I had to do it over again I would consider the Koni inserts with swift springs I think. Still puts you in the same $$ range though.

 

hey guys i'm lowered on tanabe's springs about a week ago ( so happy with the drop ) and now i wanna get some good struts .. any suggestions ? debating between Koni's and Tokico blue.. i know majority wud suggest Koni's, but why not Tokico's ?

Tokico blues haven't exactly gotten good reviews on this site, and I think they are more of an OEM replacement than an upgrade.

People have posted they raise the front of the car. The same has been said of Koni Yellows, but mine didn't, and it's possible to mount the lower spring pearch 2 ways, one of which would definitely raise the front. It's possible the Tokico have the same variable.

Koni Yellows are rebound adjustable and have a lifetime warranty.
