Try it and find out. WORSE case scenario is that you'll peel it off. Worth the try.

It really depends what the wheel design is and ultimately how fast it can dissipate heat coming from the brakes and tires. PD is rated to 200°F. If you really push the car, the brakes and the tires, those wheels can get pretty hot.

If you really want to know how PD will hold up at those temperatures, just get a piece of metal (empty soup can works), spray with PD and put it in the oven using incremental heat settings, starting at 110 degrees.

bump for this thread.

has anyone changed to new tires with a plasti diped stock rim? ie. dismounting at a tireshop and remounting? I'm guessing this won't hold up and will need a redo?

Does anyone know if the clear plasti dip is gloss? or matt same as the black? i have a feeling it would be matt.

im definately considering doing this to my G37x wheels but not too sure how the flat black would look on an AG coupe (or black in general for that matter)

I finally tried this stuff today, but on a bicycle part. I sprayed some aero bars on my commuter bike instead of using tape like I normally would. I have to say that this stuff sprays on like it is going to have all kinds of orange peel, but actually cleans up pretty well when it dries. Did a few coats today so really didn't handle it much, but when I did feels pretty good. I think I'm going to like it a lot for this particular application. Problem is going to be trying to not pull it off, just to see how easy it is to remove!

Black PD with Blue Slate and stock (non-sport) wheels? Bad combo or worth a try?

i say go for it. you'll never know how good it looks until you try it. the only loss is a couple hours of your time.
