OEM will be destroyed, You will need 2 vice grips and a piece of rubber tube to put under the shift boot on the actually shifter and just turn it counterclockwise.

You better believe I tore it up. Even with Ken's instructions over the phone, the oem **** is just too much Loctite on there. Even with a towel on the **** and vice grips on the bottom holding the shaft, the leather on the **** just started strippin away after every turn. Once the leather started strippin, both me and my cousin said "*** it" and without the towel we just ripped the turns and finally got the stinkin **** off...

I've had the car outside all day and I have no tints. I went to my car a couple of hours ago and the **** was just a little warm which is no biggie. Didn't bother me at all, especially after putting on the AC. And I live in Miami, so you know how hot is gets down here on a summer day...

Thats what ken said that the shift **** wouldn't get real hot. I guess I am going to have to destroy the stock one to get this one on. But thats ok also. Don't really care at this point.
