UK g37s
Just some quick information
the g37s is being released in the Uk on the 1-09-09 , the price for a g37s with nav is going to be £ 38,000 sterling (over $62,000 dollars) ,no discounts etc are being offered
i can buy a bmw 335i with nav etc for about £ 4,000 sterling LESS than the g, or a M3 for £ 2,000 sterling MORE than the g
now i am confused ,i initialy registered my interest in the g37s over 2 years ago !!
now when i can buy one (in a recession ) and with only 1 dealer over 300 miles away the prices are mucH more than the BMW
also all the cars that are coming into the uk have been ordered in 7AT and i wanted a 6MT
so i will have to either wait for a factory order or take a 7AT
NOTHING IS SIMPLE IS IT !!

My suspicion is that the price factor is simply a function of the European market attempting to keep more Japanese imports out buy slapping huge tariffs on it. Understandably.
I know you said release is September 1, but are there any models in the UK available for you to test drive yet? Have you considered buying in a foreign market and importing it to the UK? I don't know that it would help any with the cost, but perhaps you could get one configured as you like.
Best of luck.

The only reason I didn't get the M3 here is because it was $40k more. If it's only 2k sterling more then go for it

Absolutely agreed. Get the M3 for the smaller price difference. Incredible car. I mean, I love my G37, but if I could afford an M3 right now, it would be in my garage (paying back $100k in grad school loans currently).Good luck man!

Yeah, the EU imposes heavy taxation on Jap Imports, that's where the difference comes from.
GET THE BMW!!!! I had 335i before my G and if the car was at least a bit reliable would have never gotten rid of it. BMW is faster and smoother to drive, cornering is unbelievable. I test drove the M3 but the dealer was with me in the car and bitched every time I redlined it. Awesome car!
