Oil Change Question

I have a 2012 g37x. I needed an oil change and tire rotation so went to pep boys for free tire rotation. I entered my car info on their website and said I needed PENNZOIL CONVENTIONAL OIL. I got it done from them. Is that fine with my car. Here is what my receipt said.
1) PENNZOIL CONVENTIONAL OIL
2) QT 5W30 PENNZOIL CONV ECOB
3) PUREONE OIL FILTER

yes you'll be fine. Oil weight is correct and you changed the filter. Synthetic is mainly for longer oil change intervals, conventional works just fine in the car.

Interesting enough my dealer told me at my last oil change this weekend that Infiniti doesn't recommend synthetic because the weak link is the filter. They told me not to waste money on synthetic and just change every 4k miles. Sounds like a good way for them to drive business to their service department. I only drive about 8k miles a year and like to change it at the end of summer and end of winter so I might switch to conventional next time just because it fits my current driving habits, not because there's anything wrong with synthetic. As with anything the dealer says, take it with a grain of salt.

Conventional or "Dino" oil is fine, just needs to be changed more frequently.

I would venture to say most of us run a variety of synthetics on these forums. Anywhere from mobil1 to redline and Motul.

I personally run penzoil ultra in my G and rogue..changing around 5k miles.

Most important thing is to get a good filter and if you choose to run Dino oil, just change it every 2500 or 3k miles...depending on your driving habits.

i don't know about you but i did use the same exact oil and filter and my engine blew 5 minutes after i started it. whats more my dealer said i voided my warranty by using that oil and filter. haaaaaaaaaa just kidding. manual says 5w30 api certified. personally i use pennzoil ultra 5w30 with the bosch distance plus filter from walmart (normal size with no extender or whatever some people use). so far so good, have got about 15k on the ultra and 49k on the car. plan to use this system for as long as i can find ultra. do the changes every 3750 for dino or 5k and you'll have no worries at all. i also replace the crush washer on the oil plug every change too. don't drive yourself crazy reading all these oil threads it'll make you nuts. just do the changes at the right interval and you're good to go.

I guess I may be one of the few owners that have used Nissan Nestor oil from when I first bought the car new. It could be a waste and it is pricey but I don't mind paying the extra cost if it may be at all beneficial.

I've been using the Bosch Premium filters for the M56, it's about a third larger than the puny G filters, still fits under the splash guard. Pennzoil Platinum 5w/20 every 6k w/ solid UOAs from Blackstone.

That would be the Ester oil they hold in high regard.
