It's a G meet, but Z's are always welcome.

 

indeed! i mean, we did crash the 3rd annual Z car meet. well, it was more of a "G's are welcome too" - so, yeah, i believe i speak for everyone when i say that Z's are welcome. besides, we G drivers learn quite a bit from Z guys, and vise versa.

 

Z's are absolutely welcome to join in on this Santa Cruz run. Please . . . Feel free to add your names to the list.

We'll we just came back from the dry run, today. After my wife puts her notes together, I will post the turn by turn instructions sometime tomorrow evening. The instructions are actually quite simple. Cell phones will be useless for the majority of the run . . . Thus the dry run, today . . . To insure that no one gets left behind.

Joining my wife, Carol, and myself on the run today were, Al (SFG356MT) my brother, in his '04 6MT Sedan and Shane (limeg35) in his beautiful brand spanking new '06 BMW M3. Shane caught up with us, as we were finishing our breakfast with some biker friends at Alice's Restaurant in Woodside.

1) 0.0 miles - Turn LEFT at the Serramonte parking lot exit onto SOUTHGATE AVE.
2) < 0.1 miles – Turn LEFT at CALLAN BLVD.
3) 0.8 miles – Turn LEFT at HICKEY BLVD.
4) 1.2 miles – Enter freeway on the right . . . 280 SOUTH/SAN JOSE
5) 12.3 miles – Exit freeway at 92 WEST/HALFMOON BAY
6) Stay left to CA 35/SKYLINE BLVD.
7) 13.6 miles – Turn RIGHT at SKYLINE BLVD.
8) 15.5 miles – Turn LEFT at the top of the summit onto SKYLINE BLVD./BIG BASIN
*Note . . . 27.5 miles – Alice’s Restaurant on your left . . . Yummy!
9) 40.7 miles – Turn RIGHT at BIG BASIN/BOULDER/SANTA CRUZ
10) 42.0 miles ??? – Turn LEFT at Stop Sign onto BOULDER 9/SOUTH
*Note . . . Stay on CA 9, as we all pass through a handful of small towns, including Ben Lomond. We are almost there.
11) 50.0 miles ??? – Turn RIGHT at VERNON STREET . . . Staging Area, prior to rolling into Downtown Santa Cruz.

I apologize for the mileage marks for instruction #'s 10 & 11 . . . Long story, ask AL and Shane. The pilot (me) and co-pilot (Carol aka The BOSS) had a miscommunication. The mileage marks have been adjusted to my best abilities . . . Simply follow the written directions. You will get there in one piece.

After staging on Vernon Street, we will roll into town. The main target in town is "99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall," which is located on 110 Walnut Ave in Downtown Santa Cruz. There are 2 parking structures and a few outdoor parking lots next to and around this particular eatery. There are many places to eat . . . And for the Gals . . . There are plenty of shops to browse.

Edit: Carol, Al and I did tried to hunt down a place for a photo op. We got as far as the Capitola Beach, but parking seemed to be an issue there. We did not venture over to Seacliff Beach, as Chris (gtf unlimited) had suggested previously. Perhaps, that might still be a possibility, if enough people wanted to go.
