Exclamation My Going to be NEW 09 G37s

Hey guys I am looking to purchase a one owner 140K Miles Coupe G37s, only problem is it has hail damage... This car belongs to a friend. I have seen this since Brand new, Day one and he is on point when it comes to taking care of this car... He does not want it, but I can definately use it. It's black/black all options and no damage to the sunroof, but the hail is not big. but a lot.... Hood, roof, fenders and trunk... Any suggestions on price? I know it will be a salvaged title and he will get the money. but I want to buy it before the insurance company gets it....

Any suggestions will be good about price I should offer. and what battle am I facing in the future.??

Thanks
Ak.

Welcome to the site!
Hail damage on an older car is a tough one. Salvage titles typically reflect more severe damage that involves the mechanics of the car. So you've got that in your favor since it's purely cosmetic and you know the owner and how the car's been treated.

140k miles on an 09 won't be worth a whole lot, even with a normal title. If you were to take it to a PDR shop and get a quote to restore the car to reasonable condition that would give you some idea as to what to offer.

You will never recoup that PDR job since the title will be a salvage, so somewhere in the 5-6k range perhaps, but TBH I'm shooting from the hip here.

If you want a car that's fun to drive w/ decent power and the good options you've got it there, but I'd probably just drive it as is or maybe you know someone in the PDR biz

Ran it through edmunds.com, used "rough" condition and 140k miles and it was $3600, and this I would assume w/ a regular title!

I was going to post similar.

I did NADA and it was a bit higher, but I wouldn't pay more than $3500 or so for it Salvage titled. However, your friend should get it repaired as it is a Comprehensive claim that does not count against him. If he doesn't want to go through the trouble, I would work out getting a good deal on the repairs and let him pay out of the insurance claim. Then pay him for the car.

This one can be touchy. I personally am not riding around in a beat up vehicle. and any more than what BLNewt and I are talking about and you can find an 08 or 09 in decent shape with similar mileage clean title for not too much more.

Thanks, guys for giving input. Just found out that he is in love with the car... Hence I had interest in the car only instead of him selling it back to the insurance company... But I got a lot of "You want it?? Ok, you buy it... actually, no, I will keep it... no, you buy it... Um.. I think I will keep it..." SO, I just told him, you keep the damn car!

Again, I have never owned a Infiniti, and currently have 2 Mercedes and would have to sell one to make room... I thought this would be a dependable for my wife for work nad home, only if its a great bargain, but you guys are correct... Do I want my wife to drive around in a banged up car?? As i told you all... A LOT OF DENTS!

I am not a BS / time wasting guy. he knew I wanted it, for the simple fact stated above, but have no time for the back and forth games.

I will let you all know if anything transpires, Once again, thanks for the input...
Drive safe my friends.

For the record. I like the way the G drives better than the E Class I had. Fit and finish is not up to euro standards, more raw than that but the drive is very nice. I did like my Bimmers better overall though. I have an '11 sedan

R2d,
Yes, i agree, My wife had a '14 335 sport, she absolutely loves and I traded that in for a '17 C400, fast, but flimsy.. I am not too impressed with the newer Mercedes or BMW's, I have always owned German cars and the only time I had a Japanese car was...... Let me think. I had a 89 Accord Coupe Lxi model, back in 1989... After that it was a 92 Corrado Vr6, then a 1995 m3, then 2000 CLK 430, Got married, purchased a C320 Benz for her, X3/X5, CLS, etc... so the 2 I have currently are C400 Sport and an ML500, Yes, I was going to get rid of the C class, lease is coming to an end and get the 37s as my wifes home/work cruiser. But as far as German cars go... Mine the ML was made in the State of Alabama, Germany ! LOL...

Thanks

Your history is much like mine. The last non Euro I owned was when my wife and I had a 95 Civic EX coupe and a 96 Maxima oh and she had a 2007 Explorer, but since the Maxima It's been mainly BMWs (3, 5, 6, 7) Land Rover, Audi a couple of VWs and E class and my wife's current Volvo. Still have an e36 coupe too. I did have a 190e 2.3-16v Cosworth I loved though. The G has been good to me. Trying to talk my wife into a 640 Grand Coupe for her next one though

Thumbs up

R2D,
Yes, I have to admit, the G37s is an amazing car. and it's no BS car. I think it's a great all rounder, much like the E36 M3... And tell you the truth, the new Q60 version is very nice. I have been prone to German, maybe time for a change. you get more for the money, EX I saw a Corolla with Xenon, yet this is still options of most Benzes and Bimmers!! Time will tell my friend...
Again,
Drive safe my friends.
