Maxima, Maxima, Maxima, now G37S
I've owned a large variety of vehicles, but my car has always been a Maxima.
I've put 218K miles on my '01 Maxima but have a teenager that is about to get his license. Some of the clear coat has started to flake away, and my wife backed the van into the driver side rear door, but the car itself is still running strong - credit goes to Mobil 1 synthetic oil and high quality oil filters all of its life. It still has the factory clutch, doesn't burn a drop of oil, and has plenty of life left in the drivetrain.
Considering that the car is still solid but lacking that feeling I got when I bought it over a decade ago, I decided to shop around for a car. Acura TL (but that nose though), Honda Accord V6 (strong performer but the styling is 'okay'), Nissan Maxima (7th gen - the latest gen styling is confused), and the Kia Optima SX (turbo 2.0L) were on the top of my list. Little did I know that an Infiniti was on my list of desirables.
After shopping around on Cars.com for a new (gently used) Maxima, I saw a suggestion for a gray Infiniti G37. I decided to take an hour and a half drive to go see it. It wasn't gently used, worn tires, and had been thoroughly used as an ashtray. Needless to say, I was disappointed at having driven so far to see such a poor example of the car. The thing about the app is that it showed me a couple more G37s, including the G37S and the G37X. I live in the deep south - I'm not concerned with icy roads. I rather appreciate the extra couple MPG that the rear wheel drive car has. Further, I've gotten the manual "need" out of my system. In actuality, I have a Chevrolet Silverado with a V8 and a five speed. I also own a Honda VTX motorcycle with a five speed transmission. For my daily driver, I wanted the convenience of an automatic but with sportiness to make the drive fun.
I think I did a pretty good job locating my new ride - a pristine G37S.
First thing I'm going to do is tint the windows to protect the excellent leather interior to keep it in solid shape. Second thing I'm going to do is try to keep the car in my hands and not be adopted by the wife. :P I never thought I would like black as a car color (though it matches my motorcycle perfectly). The paint is in showroom condition without swirl marks and really makes the tasteful appointments of chrome on the grille and deck lid stand out. In short, I'm in love with it.
I'm glad to have found a community of like-minded G37 owners.
- 1994 Nissan Maxima SE, 5-speed, retired too young
- 1992 Nissan Maxima GXE, auto, retired at 300K miles
- 2001 Nissan Maxima SE, 5-speed, still going
- 2013 Infiniti G37S, auto

I had a 96 Maxima and loved all but the fact that it's FWD. Love the G being RWD. Your G is like mine as those do not appear to be "Sport" wheels (Mine is a 2011 w/ 2009 wheels for some reason)

welcome. i loved my 03 maxima se auto. sweet ride, great acceleration, and handling. horrible turn radius but its not like we drive in circles or do a lot of u-turns in the car. sold mine at around 120k, and it was running strong. like yourself mobil1 engine oil and in addition also mobil1 atf made the powertrain bulletproof.
