I have a 2009 G37S convertible with 20 inch rims. Looking for some help in picking the right size of tires. Currently I have
Front: 245/35ZR20 95W
Rear: 275/30ZR20 97W
The main problem I'm facing with the current setup is that the tires are too low profile for NYC/NJ roads (moved from NC). So I want a config that is more comfy on R20
Infiniti recommends 225/45R19 for front and 245/40R19 for rear but as I mentioned I have R20 and don't want to change.
I see that with those configs I can go for:
Front:
and with the following for rear:
I'm thinking of going with: 255/35R20 for front and 285/30R20 for rear
Welcome to the site, those tires you listed won't make much difference in comfort as the sidewalls are just a small bit taller. Not really much you can do unless you go to a touring tire that has softer sidewalls. If you go to 19s they will ride a bit better since they will have taller sidewalls to keep the diameters similar. Don't want to change diameters much from OEM.
Thanks. I know it wont make much of a difference, but just wanted to confirm. What kind of touring tires would you suggest?
To be honest I wouldn't recommend touring tires, they will offer longer tread life and be quieter, and softer riding, but you'll sacrifice a lot of performance. Michelin Primacy MXV4 would be a touring tire of that type.
