Tire recommendation?

I live in Florida and it's all just heat and rain. We don't have winters (our winter is like 60°F which only lasts around 2-3 weeks).

I'm planning on going with 245/40 tires on 19x9.5 wheels. What brand of tires should I go with?

Lots of good options, if budget isn't a concern the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are generally regarded as the gold standard.
Bridgestone S0-4 Pole Position
Continental DW
Toyo T1Sport
BFG SportComp2
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo
Kumho Ecsta Le Sport
Nitto NT555 G2 (the newest version of the NT555)

The top three for a higher budget, the bottom 5 for good performers easier on the wallet

Thanks blnewt. You're always the first to answer any of my questions. I appreciate it I think I'll be going with the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo. Just one more question, what's the difference between the Ventus V12 Evo (K110) and the Ventus V12 Evo 2 (K120)? The Evo 2s are cheaper.

You would think more expensive = better performance. If the Evo 2 is the newer and better tire, wouldn't the Evo cost less than the Evo 2?

The Evo 2 is cheaper than the Evo, so I thought the Evo 2 was the lower performer.

Top tire would be the Michelin Super Sports. Never had a complaint on those and consistently the best in its class. Hankook the close second as a great bank for the buck option.

Neal, would you consider the Hankook better than the Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position?

I got a set of BFG Sport Comp 2 earlier this year and are happy so far with their wet and dry grip.

All the reviews I've read placed the Pole Positions just under the Pilot Super Sports. I think one of those reviews was from tirerack IIRC, would be interested to hear from Neal on that one. The Hankooks and the Kumhos were just about a dead heat in their comparo a couple years ago, and are both Max performance summers (along w/ the Pole Positions) but the Hankooks & Kumhos were at lower price tiers.

Hankooks have a softer side wall which you can fix by higher air pressure. I'm on my 2nd set of s04s 800 installed out the door

Super Sports are fantastic. They perform as well as any other tire in the class (if not better in some areas), and last quite a bit longer. Well worth the investment over cheaper competitors in my opinion.

No. If the Bridgestone is within your budget then you should purchase those. The Hankook is a great bang for the buck, and decent dd tire. But if you're looking to push the car a bit more or have an aggressive driving style.... buy the S04.
