As an X owner we're kinda stuck when it comes to aftermarket shocks/struts as there aren't really any "good" options basically only OEM replacement. Whereas the non-X guys have some good choices like Koni's which are more or less designed to work well with lowering springs. It would seem from a good bit of research that I've done, is that we put lowering springs at our own risk with the likelihood we will potentially reduce the lifespan of our shocks because they are operating outside of what they were designed for. I only have 30k on my car so I am a little less concerned but also knowing if/when my shocks go I'll either have to have someone customize some Koni's to work OR go with coilovers of which there are some pretty good options for the X. Fortune 500's or Stance w/Swift spring upgrades are at the top of my list when that time comes. The downside of coilovers is that the ride will stiffen compared to stock, they can get pretty pricey, and its best to invest in a camber kit if you drop any lower than an inch or so.

Do some solid research and think about what costs you may incur in the future, since you already have a lot of miles on your current suspension. A slight drop is def. needed with the X to cut the excessive wheel gap. Good luck and welcome!

Yeah since I have a lot of kms on the OEM shocks/struts I decided to go with the coilover route, since If I install Springs I will have to replace the struts eventually.

I can't seem to find KYB's (fronts) for the G37X though..... too many decisions LOL....
Yes, I definitely plan on making a change this year. I'm really leaning towards just doing OEM KYB's for now as they're $269 shipped for all 4. I can't quite bring myself to spending $14-1500 on a quality set of coilovers right now. Too risky to buy used coilovers as they really take some fine tuning to be "correct" and they really do need sustained maintenance.

Here are the KYB part numbers via Rockauto:
