Question G37coupe newb

Im finally in a position to actually buy the car of my choice and after test driving a 2008 g37s coupe plus a month or two of countless hours of research my heart is set on the G.

I ended up not buying the 08' @ 130,000km/80778m he wanted 15k for it. Where as i loved the ride , I didn't especially like the interior color they had and decided for that much it should be every thing i want. So i ve decided to be open to spend up to 25k on a newer 2010 - 2012 model . I've got a few questions still and im hoping this forum can help me out so the sooner i can post pics of my purchase

1. I live in Edmonton AB, so bad winters occasionally. does this mean I should go with the X model over S. (This will be my first RWD winter )

2. Someone please explain suspension to me and what it means to have a "winter set up"

3. Buying from a dealership or private sale?
- I wanted to inspected an 09 but they didn't want to take it to the shop my brother uses in calgary(where the car is about 300 km from me). whats more trustworthy the private sellers dealership inspection or a 3rd partys insepction?
- Extended warrenty is something im interested in if i go with a dealership, is this something thats worth the extra cost? also if I decided to put mods in will it still be eligible for a warranty at all?

1. Get the X is there is snow in the winters and many have those in areas that need it but if you don't see snow where you live the RWD is better option imo.

2.winter set up means that they have spare wheels and winter tires so like if the weather is bad in the winter they use the set up due to chances of getting the wheels damaged etc. for example someone might have 20in aftermarket wheels with summer tires for the summer when the weather is nice and oem wheels with winter wheels such as blizzacks I think there called its a model of tire that's good in snow just as an example.

3. Depending on how old is your vehicle and mileage you might or might not get a Infiniti elite warranty and the higher the mileage and year the higher the piece for the warranty. Many don't advise to get aftermarket warranties due to them not wanting to pay most things from what I heard.

I would suggest spending a little more and getting a newer model with less mileage.

Welcome to the site Bud, agree w/ Riccio's reply. Look in to a 2012+ if your budget will allow, the pre 2012 models have a paper rear timing cover gasket that can cost upwards of $2k to repair. It's not inevitable that it will fail but something to keep in mind, the 2012+ years have metal reinforcement w/ the gasket.
G/L with your search.
