Hello! Just picked up my first car a couple of weeks ago, its a 2012 G37x Sedan.
I'm planning on picking up some Swift Springs for a slight drop, are these springs too much for a daily driver or is it bearable? And will I have to remove the struts with the new springs on? My car has 94,000 miles so would I be better off with coilovers? If anyone with swifts could give some insight I would appreciate it!
Welcome! Swifts are a great option for a mild drop I run them and they are very smooth and you can use them without a camber kit. Coilovers are a great option as well but may require a camber kit depending on how low you want your car since they are adjustable but at the mileage your at if the shocks haven't been replaced they might need to be replaced soon so it all depends on what route you want to go but swift springs are really popular and have great quality
So could I put on swift springs with my stock shocks? Or would I have to get them replaced if I went the coilover route. Also, where could I find shocks? I found a good deal on some used Swift Springs so I'm probably gonna pick those up. Thanks for your help
If you are going to get the Swift springs, Rock Auto has struts/shocks for the AWD Sedan - Monroe brand, I believe. Otherwise if you went with coilovers, you'll have springs/strut-shock combo already to replace your stock setup.
it really depends on your budget...if you search coilovers, then you can compare costs between the two options (springs vs coils)

If you stick w/ your current 17s or go up to 18s the ride w/ springs & coils won't be too harsh, but as you go up to 19s and especially 20" wheels that ride will get pretty firm.

I wouldn't do Swift springs with 94k mile struts and shocks. Speaking from experience the car will ride like butt. I went from D2 coilovers to Swift springs to try and get a better ride and am very disappointed although I'm sure it has more to do with my 100k mile OEM struts and shocks.

You can find some used shocks from members on here with low mileage or oem replacement shocks. I'm not sure if the sport ones fit the X but if they do they would be a good oem shock to replace it with and I believe the oem sport shock is kyb

are you planning on changing out the old struts/shocks? I'm at 55K miles on my stock suspension and will be putting on the Swifts that I've had in storage over the winter. I'm still going back and forth between coils or Swifts. I had KYB's on my M35 with Eibach springs and the ride was good. I can't seem to find KYB's (fronts) for the G37X though..... too many decisions LOL....
Most likely i'll be replacing my stock struts/shocks either with KYB or Koni Yellow's. Would the ride quality change if I go with AM struts vs buying OEM ones?
I don't believe Koni Yellow's are available for the X models (front struts), but rears should be same fitting as non-x models. AM struts will provide a 'slightly' sport feel compared to OEM... either one will be fine. Cost-wise, aftermarket will be less expensive.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on that really nice looking sedan! I'd definitely say swift springs or even the Eibach springs are not at all to much for a daily driver drop. Keep us posted and best of luck with the future modding.
