Return To The Darkside
Hey everyone, new member here!
Just purchased a 2012 g37x sedan after a miserable year with BMW. I had the 2012 coupe before making the move, and regretted getting rid of it everyday!
Looking forward to doing some work right away:
Tint appointment next weekend
3M gloss black in transit for window trim wrap
Diode Dynamic LED everything in transit
Contemplating Hotchkis sway bars, no plan for springs right now
Contemplating short ram intakes for easy maintenance
This car came with a good amount of paint damage (NYC driving), but figured it was worth it considering the good deal I got. This is the first car I have owned that I plan on maintaining myself, so I will probably be venturing around these boards pretty often. Can't wait!

Welcome back from the darkside, lol. We had an 07 G35, bought a BMW 7 series which I would have had to get a 2nd job to keep it on the road, then thankfully back to another G too
Glad you were able to escape w/ your bankroll intact (I'm assuming). Sounds like you're already off to a flying start.
Enjoy staying away from the dealer for years at a time rather than weeks (or days)

YES, it is quite nice to get into the car each morning and enjoy the lack of BMW warning bells going off. Honestly it is so refreshing to be in a quick car that I know will be reliable in the foreseeable future.
Monthly payments increased just slightly but it also includes the extended warranty I sprung for. Its worth the price of my sanity.
Blnewt, I've lurked on here the past few days and look forward using your DIY for the window trim this weekend.

Hard to put a price on your sanity, it was gut wrenching taking road trips in that BMW since out here most of our trips there's hundred of miles between cities, even towns sometimes. Getting stranded in the middle of nowhere, then having to deal w/ an epic towing charge and thousands of dollars in potential repair bills wasn't my idea of the ultimate driving machine. Always on pins & needles w/ that beast, I'm sure you're sleeping better even if it is a few more bucks a month.
I will definitely post some pictures if the vinyl comes out nice, it will be my first attempt working with it.
This year was a particularly difficult winter in NYC, and the BMW run flats were my arch enemy. I have my first road trip planned in 2 weeks to Lake George, about 400 miles round trip. I will miss taking the upstate curves like I did in the coupe, but my dog will appreciate the extra room in the back seat this time.

First of all love the thread title. Pulled me right in....
Second how much fun is it to talk **** about the bmw while getting to welcome a new member!! Scary fun lol. I'm so glad I never even considered a bmw. So many horror stories. And they are much more expensive (and sadly a better looking convertible) in the hardtop vert category. But if they break down consistently then they def are not worth the extra $20K.
Sounds like your off and running stJohns2012. Congrats.
Have you modded other cars as well?
Follow Brad's advice and the other members DIY's are great too. I suspect you'll beaking strides soon. What's your plans on the paint damage? Are you going to leave it bc of "NYC driving" conditions? Or have it fixed? Or maybe roll up to 180 customs and have them wrap it!! Drool.
