Just do basic bolt ons and see how you like it.

Idk why people here are so pessimistic. You will at least gain some power (about 20whp) with a better flowing full exhaust and intake plus get a tune afterwards. If its still too slow then buy a ISF, m3, c63 or a porsche carrera

Well, you can always get light weight pulley and CF driveshaft to free up HP. The other thing you can do to make your car feel faster is loose the fat on the G. CF hood, trunk and fenders. Plus it will be better on your MPG's in the long run if you keep the car. just food for thought.

I don't understand it either.

The coupe is a very heavy car to begin with. 3600 pounds curb weight is pretty significant. I agree that every ounce matters, but swapping out most things for carbon fiber will net you maybe a loss of 50 pounds and several hundred dollars. Idk, guys. The real heavyweight items aren't things you can remove. I agree with the pulley idea though. That's a pretty good mod, 10% overdrive and a 10% under drive pulley + belt will run you around 300 bucks and will net you maybe 7-10 horsepower without damaging anything.

I mostly agree with you, GFN. However, with regard to the UDP... I had a lightweight crank pulley from Unorthodox Racing in my previous car, and dollar for value it didn't measure up, IMO. There were bragging rights, sure. And there is an indisputable WTF moment when you hold the lightweight pulley in one hand, with the silly heavy OEM pulley in the other. But overall, I wouldn't do it again.

Until I do it again.

^ Don't forget the CF driveshaft. I only hear good things about that. On the 1st Generation someone did a before and after dyno and shown 17HP freed up. Others that just slapped it on there said they can feel the difference.

A set of Enkie RPF1's would likely have the same result. Not the most attractive rim on the market, but unsprung weight reduction is a worthy effort.

In that respect, it really does all add up.

The problem with trying to mode the VQ engine is that it is already putting out about 90hp/liter in stock form. What we used to do with mods was go after the choke points - exhaust, intake, camshafts - in order to get more air in and out of the engine. In this case you are getting a stock engine that is already nearly optimized.

If you want cheap and effective mods - buy a 335 with the N54 twin turbo, and put one of the various tunes on it. Pretty easy to get 375 - 400 hp range with good reliability. I'd still rather have a G, though.

If you really want to increase you power save up and get a SC or go Turbo. Its the only real worthy, cost-effective option out there. The rest are fun and nice - but not really good value..

BTW, you already have headers.

And I mean that literally, not in a snarky way. To be honest, that was an aspect of the G's design that I assumed wrongly even after buying the car. Next time you're underneath, take a look... shorty headers. It's pretty cool.

OP, the G is pretty maxed out for power, without spending thousands for maybe 20 extra HP. Buy some swaybars and some good tires and just enjoy driving the car you have, rather than the car you wish you had.
