Just purchased first g

Hello,
I am new to these forums as you can see. About a week ago I purchased my first Infiniti. I got a 2009 g37 journey with 30k miles on it in obsidian. Prior to this I had a 2008 350z which was traded in. Honestly I loved the z however it seemd to have a lot of problems with the exhaust and transmission. So far, the g is 1000 times better than the g for so many reasons. At this point I am probably going to stay away from heavy modding, however I plan to do a few minor cosmetic things, in addition I will be getting an intake and catback exhaust.

I did have one question with regards to maintenance and warranty. Generally my vehicles are kept very clean and up to date on maintenence so they are problem free. However my previous car(Z) had a number of issues that were not covered under the standard warranty. I had considered purchasing the "platinum" extended warranty for 48 or 60k additional miles from my credit union, which seems to cover everything. Ive done some searching and these infinitis seem to be fairly reliable. Is this something that should be considered or not?

oh yeah, Ill post pictures tomorrow... its night time

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on the purchase!

As for maintenance, a lot depends on how long you plan to keep your G. The extended warranties through Infiniti or any dealer through 60k will cover anything routine, but our cars really don't have a rep for anything to be concerned about.

Welcome to the site, sorry to hear your Z had troubles, should have very little to worry about w/ the Gs, I'm on my 2nd one and both have been excellent (except for the fragile chip-happy paint). I'd use the warranty budget on a few real goodies for your new ride.

Sounds good guys. Yeah I got rid of the z because it was quickly coming up on the end of power train coverage, so it just felt like driving a ticking timebomb. I've never been too serious about modding vehicles, however after looking through this site I'm definitly going to look into some mods seen to many good looking cars. Probably going to start simple this winter, get tints, spacers, and intake. Then when it gets warmer get a catback exhaust and who knows what else.
