Latest Project
Hi Everyone,
I've looked around and it seems like you have a great community here filled with beautiful cars and knowledgeable people. I hope to leverage some of your expertise in my latest project....
I picked up a 2010 G37x with Tech. Package with some damage. The damage isn't (in my opinion) too bad and the air bags did NOT deploy. I've attached some pics. The car has 4500kms and it has not been delivered to me yet.
These are the parts I think I'll be needing for the project...
- Hood
- Front Bumper Assembly
- Grille
- Distance Sensor (depending on how delicate they are)
- RT Headlight
- LT Headlight
- Rad. Support
- Radiator & Condensor
What do you guys think ???
Also, any reliable/online vendor recommendations are welcome (both Canada and USA)

why would you buy that....
I hope you checked out the engine/engine bay. You are looking at quite a bit of money to repair that ride. What did you pay for it? I hope no more than $15K.

I bought it because I think even after dropping 10k in parts and labor, I'll have 2010 fully loaded G37x for under 30K. I consider that a deal compared to the 40K USD or in our case 50K CAD and it has no mileage either.
Haha I bet most are gunna think you're retarded... but you scored. What did you end up paying?
This car was probably on the insurance buy back program, where if you damage your car within the first 6 months of ownership, the insurance company gets you a new vehicle, with the same options as your previous.
Let me know if you need a grille, I have a few available. I have a sport bumper too, brand new, but shipping is going to be a bitch.
Otherwise, try to pick up a 2011 sport bumper.
Make sure you get a OEM radiator support and OEM hood, the fitment on aftermarket radiator supports and hoods suck ! I had to find out the hard way.
Good luck with the rebuild, I know I'd enjoy it... if I ever BOUGHT a vehicle, that's the condition I'd be looking to buy it in. Best bang for the buck, you end up getting the parts you REALLY want, and save a ton of money... granted you are a little mechanically inclined and could do the radiator support swap yourself. It's pretty easy, I did it myself on my 2010 sedan for the first time too. Just make sure you have the AC discharged properly.

My only worry is that distance sensor, if it was malfunctioning would I see any lights in the dashboard?
I picked up the car for $18,500. I plan on using nothing but OEM parts, but if I can find used I will. Maybe I'll PM you for some parts. I am slightly mechanically inclined, so I plan on stripping and re-installing the radiator, so that I'll truly only pay for bodywork.

Just make sure you have the fenders (if needed), hood, and bumper painted OFF the vehicle.
I don't know how it works in Canada, but if you have anyone who owns a business... use their business ID to open up an account with a Infiniti dealership, you'll get great discounts on parts, for major parts like headlights, you can find it on ebay.
Also check Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and look for a black hood in your area, sometimes you'll find parts in good condition already painted to your color for decent prices.
OEM hood from the dealer is a little over $600 USD, w/ shop discount !
ehh, good luck with this, i'd like to hear how it turns out.
I steared away when purchasing mine from ANY damage ones just because of the fact that there are SO many electrical components in our cars, almost ANYthing can go wrong w/ a lemon...

Project has been dropped. I purchased the car on condition that the cars damage was limited to the front end. Car had kinks on both quarter panels, and really didn't want to get a car onto a frame machine and completely re-painted.
Back to searching for another g37x. Will probably get a sedan as it's more convenient for me.

Good decision...
The only reason to buy something that needs repair, imo, is to go big with it. Bodykits, widebody, something like that. If you are going to just repair it as stock, you're better off just spending the extra to have it correct from the factory.

I hate to be Downer Debbie, but I wouldn't be suprised if there is structural damage involved with this. If that is the case get your checkbook ready! There is definitely some sidesway and mash going on. It looks like the fender>door gaps are closed up, possible signs of structural damage. Vehicles now-a-days are built with passenger safety as their number one priority, so they use ultra high strength steel in their front structures to absorb and transfer collision energy. These UHSS steel parts are NOT repairable and require replacing to factory specs. Possibly requiring removal of engine and front suspension. Also, did you buy this as a totaled vehicle? I don't know where you are and what the laws are, but if it is a salvaged title you have to fix and have it inspected before they will allow it to be driven on the road. Hopefully it's not as bad as I believe to be. Good luck!
