New G37

I just got a Blue Slate 6MT last weekend... I LOVE this car, so happy I didn't get the TL type-s or mustang GT.

the only problem is I got a careless ticket two nights after I got it ... Got pulled over doing maybe 6 MPH over the speed limit (he pulled my buddy over also, he was driving a G35) he shined flashlight in my eyes, took my info, said I was speeding and then walked to the other car) He was looking all over my friends car, asking him a bunch of questions. He then went back to his car, then walked back to me gave me a careless ticket and told me to leave. We were not racing, no tire smoke, no weaving, not even tinted yet, NOTHING wrong.

I guess he just saw an 18 year old kid with a brand new infiniti, but what he didn't see was the 40 hour weeks I was putting in during my junior and senior years of high school, and then the 60 hour weeks during the summer. And the way I arranged my college schedule to be able to work 40 hours a week and still be a "full time student"

The real bad part is if I get ANY points on my license I loose it for 3 months...(College is 25 miles away, and work is 20 miles away so I am totally screwed) I am on "probationary driver program" since I got 2 tickets when I was 17 (damn streetbike is too much fun) but after that I learned my lesson, and have been driving real calm, not speeding, and only pushing the bike into triple digits on the track... The two tickets I got on the bike I deserved, and that is why I am so mad about the ticket with the G.

I am hoping they will drop it to an unsafe (you can use 2 every 5 years in Jersey and I have yet to use any) but a ticket for unsafe is like $500, there goes more then a monthly payment on something totally stupid.

After I get through this ticket I will be sure to get pics of the Blue Slate with 5% all around 35% on windshield, and tail overlays (my friends got an Athens Blue, 5% and 35% windshield and it looks awesome)

The forum has been great in the little time I have been here, and sorry for the long read.

you should never work to pay off a car you should buy a car within your means. more power to you if you can afford this car without working to hard. or if you worked hard to get it congrats but push the court date back as far as possible and you should be fine

Assuming those planned tints are illegal in New Jersey, I would think twice about it. As mentioned in another thread today, putting a spotlight on yourself with your driving record may be unwise. A new G37 is enough of a cop magnet as is. I would keep a low profile until those points are erased.

congrats on the car

chekov is right, don't make a cop have a reason to stop you, as you're really young and adding mods that attract attention makes it worse

did you solely work that much just to get the car?

I was working that much to be able to put a down payment on a car, now the monthly payments to BUY it are only about 35 percent of my monthly pay from work (based on a 40 hour week) and I get bad ADD so if all my time isn't occupied I would be bouncing off the walls. (so I'm not really working just for the car, but it is a good motivator)

I may wait until the probationary driver program is over befor tinting, I know I will get pulled over for it. It sucks cause I sit next to cops with my truck tinted 20 on windshield, 5 on driver and pass, and 2 layers of 5 on the other 3 windows and never have an issue

I guess it is the bad part about having such a nice car

Dang, i know how it is to work that much during highschool. Congrats on your purchase. The cop probably saw you & your friend driving together (although not speeding) and it caught his attention.

hopefully everything goes well for you, and lets see some pics ;]

Do they have a defensive driving program were you're located? Here in Texas you can take the six hour course and the ticket will be dismissed.

they made me go on a "probationary driver program" that is a 4 hour class and lasts a year... i think it takes 3 points away. I am going to see about the defensive driving to knock a few more off. If I had points when I did MSF course that would take 2 away I believe but I had a clean record when I got the bike.
