Lowering the G

Hey guys, I was planning on lowering my G when my wheels come in. I talked to a friend of mine and he said that I should get a full coil-over kit instead of just springs because springs will hurt the car eventually. Can anyone verify this? How much are coil over kits and what kind of springs should I get? Anyone know a good website that sells them? thanks.

I dunno about springs hurting your ride in the long run but I know the coilovers will set up back anywhere from a few hundred dollars more to thousands more.

i believe Coilovers is the right way of dropping your car.... they are more expensive than springs though..

supposedly springs will hurt the car if you use the stock struts because the stock struts were designed to work at that height and not lower or higher. I never had any problems on my 240z or my 300zx which were both lowered with eibach springs.

Arjunz right that it is the right way of dropping your car because you replace the springs and struts with a whole new unit that is designed for a lower stance. but unfortunately a good set of coilovers will set you back at least a grand.

DEFINITELY get the sways and springs. I had the Tein/tokico d specs first and the ride was tight around corners but still some roll in the ride. After the sways went in.. WHOA!!! what a difference.

The Springs were cheap (ebay) $120 shipped. The shocks I got off another forum member at a good deal too for $300. THey were used and one was blown but Tokico was AWESOME in their warranty. They shipped a new one out (after verification of me being the original owner of the car) and was put in.

I think I have seen the D Specs on ebay and vendors for around $400-500. I think Tokico makes a lower line of shocks but they are not adjustable. Dunno if they have them for the G. You can control the stiffness on the D Spec line.

Sway bars will set you back anywhere from $250->UP!! I got in on a group buy for the stillens and got them for $250. Hope this helps.

I have the Tein Flex Coilovers with the EDFC controller. Everything (parts + labor) ran me close to $3,000. Well worth it though, I can control dampness right inside the car, and it makes the ride feel great. Hands down, one of the best coilover systems out there for the G. PM me if u have any q's.
