I bought the Garmin 330 yesterday at best buy. Original MSRP was 900 but got it for 780 using a 10%coupon and extra discount for the memorial day sale at Best Buy. I really like the system and it has all the capabilities of the stock system (only smaller and minus the mpg calculator). I dont have to load maps or anything and started using it right in the parking lot (took me 2 mins to mount). There are no buttons, it is all touch screen and also uses voice prompts and can display in 3-D mode. The great thing is that I can switch it in and out of my car and into my friends cars for all the road trips I am going on this summer. Currently I have it mounted on the windshield to the right of the analog clock. I plan on removing the navi lid and building some type of housing for it. Only problem is, I am not sure how to remove the lid without dissasembling the dash first. Any advice?

That compartment lid that you're talking about just hooks off I believe on the sides. I think it just can come off with a little force.

I think there are others that have mounted that into that cubby hole. Do you have pics of how big the unit is? To be touchscreen and all.

I will try and take pictures of it later tonight. The dimensions are: 3.2 in H x 4.4 in W x 2.8 in D. It is actually a very compact unit and should be able to fit nicely once I am able to remove that lid.
