Anyone get it done with one of those aftermarket gps units? Like the Garmin 300 series or Nuvi?

I'm tired of the wire hanging around

what do you mean by hardwiring? Are you just trying to tap a power source instead of plugging it to a cigarette lighter? I hardwire my Escort radar to my fuse box. You simply attach it to the axiluary fuse and you get power when everything else comes on.

It depends on what the power cord looks like. For my Escort, it has a plug that looks like a home phone cord, so I just bought an straight extension phone cord and researched that the 2 middle wire were power and ground, and i wired it accordingly in my fuse box. If you mount it near the a-pillar, you can just run the wire down that and along the panel down to the fuse box next to the dead pedal.
