Actually I did not see anything, the specialist just came in and took pictures and did his overall inspection and this is what he suggested when you left before they start looking at replacing the entire motor.

so I should have my car back next week.

You would smell oil if it was leaky valve covers.

isn't this problem only occur in the Rev-up motors? (05-07 g35s & 05-06 Z's)

i have had two different motors (non-rev up) and i never had oil issues

Well when you have time read this...I had a motor blow due to oil consumption....it was bone dry after 1400 mile since my last oil change. I now have a hand built engine that was shipped from Japan...all replaced under warranty. The average is about 1 quart per 1000 miles..which is the level inbetween the H and L mark. I currently dont have any oil consumption issues...also full synthetic burns faster than OEM grade oil.

To save you about a days worth of reading to 59 page forum below:

http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232332

The issue is a known thing to Nissan/Infiniti...basically the oil return valves/sleeves/guides, if you will, are so small that engine heat basically burns the oil away prior to being recycled back into the block....also there are piston tollerance issues, and oil being burned more during down shifting conditions...Im sure all of this doesnt make much sense. I bet if you opened up your Plenum there is oil in there?

All you really need to know is that you need to get your issues documented by the dealer. Start an oil consumption test..they check and document the levels every 1K miles. Be sure that you are as close to bone stock as you possibly can...I think intakes and exhaust work is OK, however HF Cats may bite you in the butt. (I have some OEM CAT, if you need to borrow them). I however had a bone stock car when it was finally towed back Infiniti of Chantilly...ask for Gary...if you go there. I will need the HF CATS back though if you borrow them...lol.

If you get a hard time from the Manufacturer...just call your local Better Business B. Once that process starts..you are good to go in about 30 days. You can find all the infor you need from the thread on my350z posted above.
