Lasik eye surgery up close

would you let them do this to your eyes? This is a painless procedure hehe.
>Even though the risks are "extremely rare" for complications. How rare is it? it's relatively about <1% reported in 2006 and was used to be 5% in 1990. This new procedure has been out not too long, so if you think about 30-60 years down the line, there may be some long term problems. There was not any studies about complication that far.
LASIK Complications: How They Affect You:
1) Incomplete corrections (undercorrection, overcorrection, residual astigmatism) or regression of effect Blurry, less-than-perfect vision Glasses or contact lenses; eyedrops;
2) Decentered ablations Visual aberrations
3) Oversize pupils (pupils wider than treatment zone) Visual aberrations
4) Haze Visual aberrations
5) Irregular flap (folds, wrinkles, striae) Visual aberrations
6) Dry eye Dry, itchy or scratchy eyes, often with redness and sense of foreign object in eye, and sometimes pain Prescription dry eye medication;
7) Diffuse lamellar keratitis (eye inflammation) Visual aberrations*
8) Epithelial ingrowth Visual aberrations*
9) Infection Redness, oozing of eyes, sometimes pain Eyedrops;
*Visual aberrations include symptoms such as glare, double vision, ghosting, halos, starbursts, loss of contrast sensitivity, and problems with low-light or night vision. Not all patients experience all symptoms, and some patients with these complications experience no symptoms and require no treatment.
Yes, it's only 1% risk..... and it's 1 out 100 patients..... very minimal risk when it's NOT YOURS.
Hope this helps.

I had mine done at the Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, SC where they did part of the trials to get the FDA approval for the laser. The complication rate was 1 in 10,000 and I have no regrets. I also got it at half price since I was a working there. During the informed consent, I did have second thoughts.
absolutely crazy minor surgery. my gf had it done about 2 months ago and she is doing just fine. i went with her when she had it done and i was able to see everything, the whole procedure was monitored on the television. each eye took about 3 minutes. the hardest thing for her was to keep her eyes open, even though they clamp it open. in fact, the very next day she was able to drive and do everything normally with 20/20 vision.
i'm glad i have perfect vision, but if i didn't i would definitely do the procedure.

I had it done almost two years ago. Haven't been to the eye doctor in a year, but last I checked I had 20/10 in right eye and 20/25 in left eye. Before I had astygmatism in left eye and had pretty thick prescription (I paid for thin lenses though). No regrets whatsoever.
