weds night results

damn damn damn.....was cutting decent lights at .1-.2 during my 5 practice runs before declaring dial in for eliminations. First friggin round I cut a -.009 red light. Oh well, still super fun for $15. Then went into the grudge lanes for the rest of the evening and smoked every single car next to me. Tossed loss slips to numerous Mustangs, RSXr's, 350z's, G's, Acura/Honda's, and even a GTO.

So I went in with a lighter load of fuel, took all my crap out of the trunk, and dropped rear tire pressures to about 29/30lbs. Didn't seem to make much difference and I feel this car is best at 1/3-1/2 fuel for proper weight on the rear tires....definitely had less traction with the weight reduction even though it wasn't much. Even with the 7AT, the tires chirped from 1-2 and from 2-3. It's crazy how quickly this car winds up going from 1-2-3...I was in 3rd within just a few seconds from launch and blew through the traps in the upper revs of 4th.

Dialed in = 13.65
Best MPH of the night = 106.55
Best ET of the night = 13.61
Best 60' of the night = 2.10
Best RT of the night = .10

15 white slips, 1 yellow

If you have a chance to go run your G on a controlled strip, do it. It really is a blast. There were like 130 cars out there and some pretty cool stuff to check out in the lanes....a lot of crap too.

Wow 106mph, that car is making some serious power. What was your 1/8mile times/trap speed?

I'm tellin you, the 7AT is a fantastic set-up. The benefits of a liftless shift is awesome. And yes, I've owned several MT sports cars...the last being a '00 Mustang GT with some good bolt-ons, suspension, etc... May never go back after this. I agree, those are way nice times and I'm kinda shocked this car gets it this way off the showroom floor. I just came to the line, lit the first bulb...lit the 2nd bulb....hold.....lights countdown....leave on the last amber and just mash it with VDC off. Traction is very good on a strip plastered with rubber...just enough spin to verify that you mashed it. Then in an instant I'm pulling for 2nd and a solid chirp. Almost as quickly as 1-2, I'm pulling again for 3rd and another chirp, in third for a few seconds to 7100 and hit 4th to run the rest of the way. With the VDC on, there was a different feel, but didn't seem to change the ET or MPH by any noticeable amount.

So much fun! $35K for a loaded sport sedan that is actually an honest sport sedan....unlike some others that claim to be. I'm really enjoying this car.

not sure, left my slips at the office. I'll post that data once I get back to the office at some point.

starts at 5pm and for $15 you run all night....well, until 9:30. Comes out to about a $1 a run. And if you're fortunate enough to win your group I think you even go home with some sort of cheesy trophy. But that'd be kinda cool too. Ummmmm, yeah, it's definitely worth it....and I am now officially an Infiniti Kool Aid drinker.

Bumping an old thread, but I'll be heading to a test 'n tune out for my first time this weekend in Maryland. Don't have a helmet, so I guess I'll see what happens with that.

The strip is a good hour-and-a-half drive from home (Saturday or Sunday are the only days I can do it, and there's only one place nearby with runs on Sat -- currently calling for rain Sunday).

I've read the advice to ditch the spare tire and there's nothing else in my trunk normally, although I'm wondering if it's a good idea to drive that far without the spare in the trunk. I'm bringing a friend, wondering if it will be possible to ditch the tire for the runs but keep it with me otherwise?

Are you going to Mason-Dixon dragway at all? I've usually driven there and then stripped stuff from my trunk and left it in the pits area out of the way, no one bothered it.

keep your tire in there...you won't notice any difference. I've found that some added weight in the rear is actually better than taking it out. Last time out I removed everything (except the tire), dropped tire pressures to about 24-25lbs and had a tad less than a qtr tank....lit the tires up like a monster & it was very tricky finding the right way to launch with a light load (7AT). Of course VDC was off, and leaving it on just caused a stutter due to wheel spin through 1st. My best ET's and top-end MPH's were with tires at 32lbs and half a tank with the tire on board. Just an FYI. At the end of the day, the car has what it has and you should be able to get somewhere between 13.7-13.9 pretty consistently if you hit your shifts right. Either way, have fun! It's a blast!

Just a little advice... Cover your VIN # in the window, Take off your license plates, & 3 add 1 to1/2 gallons of race gas to your gas tank(helps out alot) the reason for taking off the plates & covering the vins is because I heard dealers or spies for stealerships like to go to races to spot cars they've sold and void warranties when you come in for a repair do to a legal but organized racing event! Have fun but be cautious!
