what happens after you install springs?

hiii everyone.

im wondering if there is any follow-up you have to do after you install springs to drop the car. for example, i have been browsing the forums and see that some people mention taking the car in for alignment a week later or so..? what is this for? do the springs mess up the alignment somehow?

also, i read that some people say they are getting springs and sway bars (idk what these are..haha) or camber kits (idk what these are either.. ) is this necessary? what do they do?

if someone could explain, it would really help me out. thank you!

camber kits are nessesary if you dropped or plan on dropping your car more then 1inch front or rear as if you get an alignment afterwards it will never be factory specs aka you will have to run negative camber which will create uneven wearing of tires. if you wait to get an alignment usually more then a week its so you give the springs a time to settle(drop more) because everything needs a break in. sway bars ehhh everyone else has their own opinions on them(stiffen up the chassis its a bar that go underneath the car towards the rear).

tell us what your dropped on so we can tell you what you need to do

No matter how much or how little you drop your car using springs, you need to get an alignment right after installing the springs. If your drop is just about an inch or so, you may not need a camber kit. If it's more than about an inch a camber kit is recommended. Without correcting the excessive negative camber that lowering a car causes, you will wear through your tires (particularly the rear ones) quickly and unevenly. They will wear more toward the inner wall than the outer wall and the tread will be gone from the inside while there's still plenty on the outside. Your car will corner a little better, but it will be a tire eating machine.

If I'm not mistaken, the G35 H Techs are about borderline as to where you'll need a camber kit. I have the Tanabe NF210 and the advertised drop is 1" front and .7" rear. I was able to get camber adjusted to within spec with no camber kit.
