Closed Deck VQ (Block Guard)

block guard VQ block anyone? Vortex Motorsports (the guys who got the single turbo kit out of Tampa) now makes block guards for our engines to those who wanna run more boost and make more power out of their platform. they sell for $1995 with a core refund of $650. just a heads up.

I've done some asking around, and i've heard that you do get the benefit of reinforcement from the closed block, but cooling becomes an issue because of it...I don't know if aftermarket cooling kits would curb it though, i'd imagine so.

Block guards does block off some of the coolant passage way. Done correctly, you won't have any issues. It is advised to upgrade cooling system though. In this case, the triple by pass radiator from CSF.
