Question about performance Y Pipe install 2012 g37x

Hey guys, so my ‘12 G sedan has a pretty big leak on the driver side Y-pipe/flex pipe exhaust (connects from both cats to the mid muffler, literally shaped like a “Y”) and I was thinking of replacing the the whole Y pipe with an ISR performance one but i’m not sure if it’s the right move since I’d only be replacing that part of the exhaust (and not the cats or back part of exhaust)

The car has 90k miles and there’s some obvious rust/corrosion (not the worst) on the Whole exhaust system, though this leak is the first. Would it even make sense to replace only the Y pipe as the the rest of the system would be stock? I hear most of the leaks that happen on this car are in fact Usually in the flex pipe/y-pipe.

And one other option i have is simply cutting out the bad piece and welding on a new one. It will probably save me a bit more money but honestly not much given the labor might be about the same as replacing the whole Y-pipe

Any recommendations?

Thanks guys!

If you're just replacing the Y Pipe, acquire a used one.
If you want "new", then I'd suggest that you purchase a CAT Back Exhaust (everything that mounts to the CATs all the way back including the muffler).

Also, if you'd include where you're located at, a member that lives close to you "might" have a used stock Y Pipe that they'd make you a deal on.

Curious as to why you suggest this. Would an aftermarket Y-pipe always have a wider diameter and not mate up to the inlet of the mufflers?

Without changing the rest of the exhaust, the possibility larger aftermarket Y Pipe isn't going to change the characteristic of the exhaust flow, which in my mind, would be a waist of money when a used OEM would produce the same results.

But it's your money, your choice.

You are right... just confirming. :-)
My y-pipe flex section is corroded and there's a small hole... so I am looking at aftermarket options (catback) or then decide if I should jus stick with trying to find a used stock y-pipe. Only issue with that is that it might just be a matter of time that it also succumbs to corrosion.

Getting a used OEM fairly cheap could allow you more time to save up $$$'s for the aftermarket Exhaust you want vs. getting the one that you can afford.... just saying....

<----- Look
Also.... if people would put their "general" location within their profile, another member who's near to them "might" be able to help them out with a Very Inexpensive OEM Y Pipe..... also.. just saying...

I do have my location in my profile. No bites yet!
If looking for used what is a reasonable price for a decent condition used? Nothing in classifieds right now either. In this case I assume I can just jack the car up and replace it myself. Its been a while since I got my fingers dirty but I've done similar jobs on my old Maxima back in the day (gen 4). 6 bolts if I recall correctly (2 per bank for hte flex section in the front and 2 in the rear). Is it still that simple on this car?
