Y pipe???

I ordered the Top Speed pro exhaust for my sedan over the weekend. Would you guys recommend ordering a Y pipe to go with the exhaust? Or should I just install the exhaust and leave the stock y pipe?

Y-pipe from all I've read will yield minimal gains compared to the rest of the exhaust and especially the cats. It's a pretty simple install so you could always reevaluate after you install the exhaust.

The Top Speed i ordered is from the stock y pipe and back. I just figured I would ask first you guys here first if it worth the extra $150 to get an aftermarket y pipe. Basically..... Does it help the exhaust sound?

I think you'll be very happy w/ the sound. I've had mine on for a long time now and I really don't want to add anything that would alter the sound. I've debated going HFCs but if the sound cahnges for the worse I'd really be bummed

No, I'm stock up to the mid pipes, same as the setup you're buying (although I think the latest top speeds have a bit smaller OD tips).

I bought the manzo y pipe for $150 shipped. I think the diameter is a bit wider for better airflow. There are more experienced people on here who can chime in!

If I remember right, the stock y-pipe uses 1.75" piping - that increases to 2.25" where it meets the mid-pipe. The problem with most aftermarket Y-pipes is that they are @3" where they meet the mid. That sort-of messes up flow (3" -> 2.25"). Exhaust Depot was one of the few (only?) places that made a 2.25" y-pipe - but they are gone.

I did a pretty simmilar setup to this. I got the Topspeed Pro-1 exhaust, a Megan Racing Y-Pipe, ART Pipes, and then modified the Topspeed exhaust to fit the Megan Racing Y-Pipe. The MR Ypipe is 2.5" in and 3" out which is more free flowing than the factory HR Ypipe but the Topspeed exhaust is 2.5" in split to dual 2.25". I got a flowmaster 3" in to dual 2.5" y section that I had an exhaust shop install on the Topspeed exhaust to make sure it all flowed right and sounded good. This setup plus the Motordyne ART pipes gave me another 25whp easily and sounds AWESOME. No drone, no rasp, not TOO loud but still agressive as ***** under full throttle. I'll have to upload some pix/videos so you guys can see exactly what i did and how it sounds. Hope i explained it all accurately lol!

I have Top Speed with Megan Y as well. The sound gets a little deeper after adding a Y. Thats all. I am actually thinking of taking it off for stock Y pipe for a while to compare the sound because I really like TS exhaust sound by itself.

As far as gains, Y-pipe nets no measurable gain. Cat back by itself without a tune nets a single digit increase maybe. When I had test pipes, I felt a difference in power. Catback - not so much.
