Test pipes rasp

I have a 2012 infiniti g37 IPL. Just installed Z1 test pipes. Is great it woke the car up awesome but i hate how raspy metal claps even when im going slow like simply making a turn sounds like my car is full straight pipe. I have no problem how it sounds when i step on it thats cool but how raspy it is when it gets to around 2800-3500 rpm is not my style. Will a Y pipe like Z1, isr, or tomei will help tone the sound abit?

Something I did that helped reduce the rasp on my ART pipes was wrapping them in header wrap and applying DEI high temp spray on top of that.

If any Y pipe would help with the rasp I would think the resonated Motordyne XYZ pipe would be one of the better ones for this. ISR and Tomei do make the most power though.

where is a good choice to buy header wrap from? You applied the spray on top of the wrap? Im going to try that.
what about the Z1 y pipe?

Something like this. I can't recall how much I used though. It's a good, fairly cheap place to start.

Correct, the spray went on top and helped "seal" everything. I used a couple metal zip ties to keep some of the wrap secure and in place. It's been a few years since I've done it and they could probably use a re-wrap/re-spray.

The Z1 is a good Y pipe, I'm just not sure how much it would help with rasp seeing as it doesn't have a resonator. The XYZ pipe you can do a straight pipe, resonator, or high flow cat.

Nothing other than adding a resonator will help with the rasp. I have HKS CBE and its probably the tamest exhaust in the market, I put on the test pipes and they rasp. No way around it I guess I'll have to get resonated test pipes.

how big of a difference did wrapping it did? Lets says volume is 10 on rasp how much u think it went down for you

No I meant resonated test pipes, also the resonators are straight through they will not affect the volume but the frequency of the sound. mufflers do the muffling and lower the sound
my HKS has huge resonators in the mid pipe, the mufflers at the end with Helmholtz champers and still with the test pipes I got serious rasp. so getting Y pipe or Tomei is only going to make it worse honestly. the only thing you will gain is more volume rasp will remain and maybe increase.

It's been so long since I did it so I can't give a good before and after. It was enough of a difference to justify the time/money spent on doing it though. Like I said, the easiest/cheapest place to start. If you're not satisfied with the results you could try a resonated test pipe but I know that would be a big hassle (and more money).
