Running Lean?

On a cold start my G revs almost up to 2k then slowly drops to about 1.2k and sits around there. Once I shift the car into drive the RPMs drops to about 700 or so.

The only mods i can think of that effect this are R2C CAI and ARK Catback.

The dealership said i was running lean and it might be caused by the aftermarket stuff.

On a full tank i am lucky to get over 300 miles according to my odometer.

Does anyone else have this issue? or is it even an issue? just looking for some info or guidance

Thanks!

Your dealership is correct, CAI and catback can cause you to run lean, but I doubt it would be dangerously so.

that's what i figured since it would explain the death of my MPG.

Would a proper tune fix this?

It will fix the lean problem, but not your MPG. it fixes the leaning problem by using more fuel to offset the denser air you're getting and maintain ideal AFR. MPG will get worse; however, did you buy the car for mileage? I didn't.

LOL good point.

the thing that is weird is out here in Nebraska (not by choice) i will barley get 300 miles on a full tank, but in Colorado or Jersey i can get almost close to 375 miles on a full tank. even the gauge will show 400 miles on a full tank but in Nebraska it only shows 300 miles sometimes.

Now i gota do a roadtrip to find somewhere to get the G tuned :P

Thanks for the quick info Nguyen!

Might be an elevation issue?

I don't baby mine, I just drive it. If you're worried about MPG in a sports oriented car then this isn't the car then maybe you need to rethink about the car you're driving.

Stick a wideband in her see what she reads. Does the dealer have proof that your car is running lean? Can they share the datalogs with you to made them arrive to this conclusion?
