exhaust leak from art pipes

alright well im having an issue with my art pipes that apparently has happened since i installed them but didnt notice untill now. basically i have a leak from both art pipes from the sides of the header to art pipe connection. origionaly i had just siliconed the connection but since i found the leak i ordered the z1 motorsports metal gaskets and i still have the same leaks from the same locations. has anyone had a similar issue or fixed this issue? and yes i have contacted tony and he wont warranty them because they where bought used.

Man sorry to hear that, I'm sure you've contact the previous owner about your leakage problem first? Did he/she run across this issue as you described?

Have you tried a belt sander or something equivalent to smooth/rid out the imperfections causing the leaks. Or maybe you didn't apply enough silicone on it nor let it cure well enough

The best way to seal a exhaust leak is with silicone type gaskets so which one are you using? I know this silicone works very well for high temp applications Gasket Makers : Permatex® Ultra Copper® Maximum Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker

I had the same issues with my art pipes . You have to get some new gaskets and apply a lot of gasket maker . Make sure when you install when the gasket maker is tacky and after 20 miles re torque the bolts . That was the only way I could fix my leaks ..

i guess adding gasket maker is the next step it just sucks that i have to remove them for the third time now. after spending so much money on these pipes its fustrating that i have to use sealant ontop of these expensive z1 metal gaskets.

I can second the leaks on GET_SOME'S art pipes. You can not only feel the leak but you can see it, also it is throwing his o2 sensors off and the car smokes when he gets on the gas. I've personally reset his ecu 3 times because of the sensor throwing a code.

the car will be going into the shop on wednesday with a guy that specializes in the g line and hopefully it will be fixed. im really hoping its not a warped flange that cant be fixed.

From our experience. The best way to go about this is to utilize the thick OEM gaskets if the testpipes have an extension to it, in order to hold the OEM gasket. Alternatively,
you can heat wrap that area which also had good results in the past.

Gasket maker doesn't really help. I was throwing a code and so I assumed I had a small leak. We used an OEM GASKET for the flanges between the headers and the physical art pipes. No leaks. You're doing it wrong. USE THE OEM gaskets (rings that crush).

had the same problem before , spent a lot of money on fixing that.
then i got a set of Berks Gaskets , problem solved forever!

problem was the poor gaskets that come with art pipes, motordyne should look into different ones.
